This role is for NorthernTel internal Unifor Clerical and Technicians employees only.

Job summary

The Control Centre Clerk is required to program the DMS and Voicemail systems to Assign and Provision all Service Orders, and at times cover the Cable Locate Answer Position. All these activities are focused on service and will require the successful candidate to deal with both internal employees and external customers. Other tasks may include Repair Answer overflow, data entry and report preparation.

Qualifications:
- College diploma in Office or Business Administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience with mainframe and on-line systems ex. GATT, COR, INFOCOM, and SECRET is essential.
- Hands-on experience in the following areas: assignment, control centre operations, repair answer is essential.
- Previous hands-on experience of DMS, DMS–10, Centrex, Mailbox Provisioner and Metaswitch programming is essential
- Experience with DMI Provisioner, CMS (Customer Management System) and Internet Server Management Console
- Proven knowledge of Central Office Technology and Engineering Plant Facilities.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

Skills:
- Intermediate PC and software skills (Word, Excel, MS Access) are essential
- Basic knowledge of Network X
- Excellent organizational and time management skills are required
- Strong planning, organizing, forecasting, and scheduling skills
- Excellent trouble shooting and inquiring skills
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential
- Excellent keyboarding skills are essential
- Excellent customer service skills are essential
- Excellent telephone skills

Abilities:
- Learn and utilize new computer systems proficiently
- Good understanding of company products and services
- Maintain confidentiality of records
- Understand INFOCOM and SECRET orders (including Centrex)
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Interface with other departments, other telco's and customers
- Prioritize work, work in a fast pace environment and meet strict deadlines
- Use computer software (Word, Excel and MS Access) to perform work
- Input data quickly and accurately
- Work flexible schedules which change from day to day including shift work.
