Description of department:
The Voice Network Services and 911 operations team is responsible for the development, implementation, support and lifecycle management of all Bell voice and 911 service platforms. We are a technical team committed to the customer and continuous improvement in all aspects of our work. Our scope covers a very broad base of technology including cloud VoIP and unified communication application services, next generation 911 networks and our highly profitable heritage voice platforms. Role summary:
The Hosted VoIP Technical Implementation Manager is a key resource within the VNS team supporting Bell’s VoIP and unified communication service networks, platforms and applications. Responsibilities include developing, implementing and supporting new customer, technology and product introductions. Implementation managers build and support new VoIP networks, platforms and tools according to operational specifications. They also work directly on customer technical integration to VoIP services acting as a design authority, lead technical specialist and quality control owner. The role is very dynamic and constantly evolving with significant career development and growth opportunities.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Perform technical implementation of new network platforms and services.
- Execute network build activities, including core network device configuration.
- Delivers technical integration of VoIP/UC services for new customer introductions.
- Develops and implements operational systems and tools for core network OAMP functions.
- Provides technical support as the subject matter expert for new platforms and services.
- Partner with lifecycle/tools management to drive service/platform integrity and growth.
Critical qualifications/competencies:
- University or college degree (science/technology) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with IP switching and routing in network engineering/operations capacity.
- Strong technical understanding of VoIP including Unified Communication applications.
- Superior quantitative analysis skills driving business intelligence and analytical decisions.
- Delivers under pressure with excellent time management skills and prioritization.
- A team player and change enabler with a positive forward thinking mindset.
- Fully versed in all office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bilingual French / English would be an asset.
Preferred qualifications/competencies:
- Solid understanding of IP networking for carrier VoIP architecture and design principles.
- Network or IT certifications: Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIA, Microsoft MCSE or Red Hat RHSE.
- Understanding of VoIP protocol and application knowledge covering: SIP, RTP, H.248, CCS7 & TLS.
- Basic understanding and experience with web technologies including SharePoint and Dreamweaver.
- Practical experience with system administration, shell scripting and/or object oriented programming.
- Experience with web technologies and computing systems in a provisioning or support capacity.
- System administration skills covering: VMware ESXi, Windows Server and Red Hat Linux.
Working conditions:
This is a Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week position where overtime is required at times pending project and support load. The position operates within a 24x7, 365 day/yr operation which may require participation in a shared duty management rotation for off-normal coverage on a rotational basis.
