Position: WEB JOURNALIST (PT)

Location: CTV SASKATOON
Salary: CEP Local 817M, Group 5. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week with possibility of additional hours. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities: 
• CTV Sakatoon is seeking a breaking news writer, to generate original stories and other content for website. Candidate will have at least 2 years experience in a newsroom, wire service or online operation.
• Generate fresh ideas including polls, quizzes, photos, video, audio and other materials to enhance the website experience.  
• Morning/weekend shifts as assigned.
• Participate in news editorial meetings.
• On air reporting as required
• Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: 
• A degree or diploma from an accredited Broadcast Journalism program; plus two years experience working for a wire service, newspaper or online breaking news operation.
• Strong news and editorial judgment, strong copy editing skills, clear and concise writing ability, have an excellent command of the English language, and an ability to write accurate and engaging headlines.
• Ability to work under constant tight deadlines; time management skills and multi-tasking abilities are essential
• Must be familiar with Canadian Press Style Guide and Canadian libel law
• Must be familiar with social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc. .
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well individually or in a team.
• Knowledge of HTML, FTP and Photoshop an asset.
• Familiarity with newsroom management systems (e.g. iNews, Inscriber etc.) and video encoding/format transferring an asset. Well developed computer skills very important.
