Position: Weekday News Anchor/Reporter - Bell Media Radio
Location: Kelowna, British Columbia
Bell Media Radio is seeking a professional individual who loves radio and has a passion for news to join our team in the capacity of Weekday News Anchor/Reporter in Kelowna, BC.
Responsibilities:
- Anchor weekday newscasts and reporting five days per week.
- Provide vacation relief for news anchors including weekend anchoring.
- Develop community contacts.
- Attend News events, chase stories and follow up on files.
- Post stories to web daily.
- Find the local and or regional angle to provincial and national stories.
- Work with team members to brainstorm story ideas and co-ordinate news events.
- Apply news content to station social media platforms
- Other news-department duties as assigned by the Assistant Regional Program Director and/or Assignment Editor
Skill Requirements
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and/or frequently un-supervised
- Ability to generate at least three stories per day.
- A solid on-air delivery.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Mature, calm and professional manner
- Able to take instruction with ease; willing to learn
- Proven display of initiative
- Represent Bell Media with integrity, respect and mature judgment
- Minimum two years experience.
- Experience covering police and court.
- Broadcast (radio) journalism education from a recognized institution required.
- A valid drivers license (abstract may be required)
- Strong references
