Position Description:
The Software Quality Specialist will be part of a team of experienced developers building and working on enterprise grade software systems using the Microsoft .NET development stack as well as several vendor proprietary API. They will be responsible for performing tests on computer applications and systems in order to isolate and solve issues as part of the software development lifecycle. As such, the Software Quality Specialist will document and manage test plans based on business requirements documentation, software specifications and design. They will consults with end users and the developers for the repair or build of software systems to complete tasks involved in the processing of teleconferences end to end; from the point of provisioning, delivery of service and invoicing to the customer. The Software Quality Specialist’s obligation extends to the support of existing software systems problems, repairs and legacy processes as well as assisting end users during user acceptance testing activities.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Preparation, presentation of test plans and test strategy for internal system upgrades and builds
- Preparation, presentation of test cases
- Preparation of estimates for QA and UAT phases on projects
- Documentation of test results, creation and maintenance of bug lists
- Liaison between end users, testers and developers for the explanation of errors and changes
- Preparation of test environments
- Monitoring of test software releases
- Monitoring of system errors
- Researching and reproducing reported production software errors
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong knowledge of and experience with software quality assurance practices and processes
- 4 to 5 years business experience in a similar role
- Attention to detail
- Understanding of data flow in software systems
- Excellent Troubleshooting skills
- Patience and the ability to work under pressure
- The ability to focus on more than one project at a time
- Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization
- Exposure to wide range of software primarily in a Microsoft Windows environment
Preferred Skills/Competencies:
- Asset - Working knowledge of the teleconferencing / telecommunications domain
- Asset - Knowledge of 3D methodology adopted by Bell Canada
- Asset - Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server is an asset
- Asset - Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio (Test Suite)
