Position: Producer – CTV News Channel
Location: Agincourt
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities: • Plans, develops and oversees editorial content for hourly newscasts for CTV News Channel
• Find and pitch the latest news, political, entertainment, pop culture and sports content from a wide variety of sources
• Take shows to air in Control Room
• Supervise team of news writers, chase producers and line-up editors. Pitch stories relevant to a national audience on a daily basis
• Work with anchor, editorial management and control room personnel to ensure high-quality content in a fast-paced 24-hour newsroom
• Other duties as assigned
• May include some weekends and holidays
Qualifications: • Extensive experience in several roles at a national news organization
• Superior news judgment
• Control Room experience is essential
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and prioritize
• Proven production skills
• Experience managing staff and problem solving
• Ability to thrive in a stressful environment
• Ability to work in a team, motivate staff and personally set the highest professional journalism standards
• Computer skills - I-news experience is an asset
• Journalism degree required
