Bell Business Markets provides a vast array of communications solutions for small, medium, and large organizations. These include managed data and network solutions, cloud computing, conferencing, Web, security solutions and integrated information and communications technology (ICT) services.
Position Description:
The Network and Security Services Analyst responds to security alerts and notifications by performing hands-on device management, configuration changes and troubleshooting for network and security devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, host intrusion prevention appliances, anti-virus, anti-spam appliances and data loss prevention appliances for a diverse client base. The incumbent must be able to quickly understand the diverse managed security services that the Bell Business Markets offers to its client base and must be able to differentiate and respond to the contractual Service Level Agreements of each individual client. The Network and Security Services Analyst must have a comprehensive knowledge of both technical and operational network and security best practices and significant hands-on experience in a wide variety of technology platforms and security services.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
- Monitor, review and interpret security alerts and notifications and provide second-line response, analysis, and incident management in support of customers
- Configure and maintain network and security devices as well as provide general knowledge and recommendations for network and security best practices to clients, as required
- Adhere to strict security and associated authentication protocols when dealing with all levels of client requests
- Assist with defining customer requirements for network and security solutions with a focus on Identity Management solutions and/or Infrastructure Protection solutions i.e. Firewalls, VPNs, VOIP, Intrusion prevention/detection, Access controls, Perimeter security, Secure content including Network Access Control (NAC), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), etc.
- Configure and validate secure systems, test security products and systems to identify security weaknesses
- Contribute to continuous growth of the Network and Security Solutions practice through mentorship, identification of new opportunities and development of network and security solutions
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- A SECRET Security Clearance is required
- Bachelor or specialized college degree in Computer Science, System Engineering or another related IT program and >5 years of equivalent industry experience in the information systems field
- Ability to translate complex and ambiguous problems into actionable components and lead less experienced analysts through a solution
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics and build consensus among business and technical constituents
- Thrives on challenge and change; reacts with proactive and innovative work solutions
- Attention to detail on tracking, incident reporting, forensic data use case management
- Deductive reasoning – quickly able to link disparate data to a root cause analysis and interactively validate to conclusion
- Ability to work in a team and without supervision
- Work well under time constraints/pressure
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to shift schedule changes to accommodate ever changing business needs
Technical Qualifications/Competencies – Minimum of 5 to qualify:
- Knowledge of security operational policies, procedures, and techniques
- Knowledge and understanding to interpret SIEM alerts and supporting technologies
- Understanding of mitigation safeguards and responses at the systems, network, and application level (VPN, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, server hardening, SSO, encryption technologies)
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting security solutions including authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit capabilities as part of an overall system design
- In-depth detailed knowledge of server, storage and network integration
- In-depth detailed knowledge of storage technologies
- In-depth knowledge of SAN switching technologies
- Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills in virtualization technologies (ESX, ESXi, VMware 5.x, Hyper-V)
- Must have working knowledge in risk assessment methods as it relates to vulnerability management
- Understanding of PCI, ISO 27001, ITIL, and/or other compliance frameworks would be an asset
Other Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
- Professional designation such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP, etc. or two years equivalent experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC)
- Industry recognized technical certifications
- SIEM/EPO/DLP use case, configure, deploy, tuning and support experience
- VA, Penn test, Forensic, OWASP top ten knowledge and experience
- GRC, Security Policies, Procedures, BCP, DRP
- Programming skills in, e.g. C Shell, PERL, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems and Active Directory Services
- Familiar with major databases
- Strong TCP/IP skills including SNMP, Syslog, network troubleshooting, etc.
- Language: Bilingual Preferred but not essential
