Job Description:
- Responsible for the accounting of $1Billion in annual subscription revenues including TV Everywhere and CraveTV from cable and satellite providers (BDUs)
- Provide support to all Senior Managers in the group across a diverse range of functions primarily working with the Content Distribution team and IT
- Manage Affiliate (Subscriber Revenue) Team which currently has 6 managers in two locations with the responsible for 41 specialty networks including Pay TV, TV Everywhere and CraveTV
- Support in the closing of monthly books including:
- Review and approval of monthly transactions
- Reconcile intercompany transactions with other business units
- Review of month end results and attendance at related meetings
- Rapid resolution of critical month end issues
- Review and approval of monthly reconciliations
- Support the business for new BDU contracts to identify accounting issues and potential impact to systems
- Investigate and resolve complex collection issues by dealing directly with the BDU to resolve
- Be a subject matter expert with respect to subscriber revenue contracts (rates, penetration rules, special
- causes etc), systems and accounting
- Work with IT to resolve system issues or changes affecting the Affiliate system
- Partner with finance, corporate groups, other controller teams and business operations to ensure accuracy of results and compliance with controls
- Participate in new Affiliate system implementation planned for 2015 which will replace the Affiliate system
- Day to day involvement in ensuring appropriate accounting recognition for all business transactions
- Analysis and presentation of meaningful financial information to senior management as required
- Support on management of risks and provisions relating to various exposures
- Support in implementation of accounting changes and other process improvements
- Support internal & external audit requirements including meetings with external auditors
- Liaison with the SOx team
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- Profession accounting designation of Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA), CMA or CGA
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, in English
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with senior management and other members of the team in a professional and efficient manner
- Must be a team player with strong interpersonal ability to manage virtual teams, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines and work overtime if required
- Strong organizational skills, reliable, autonomous and ability to handle multiple requests in order of
- priority
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of SAP, BW and Peats systems would be an asset
