Our Network team plans, designs, builds and operates Bell’s multi-billion dollar networks, including the continued expansion of our fibre optic network, HSPA+ and LTE — Canada’s largest and fastest wireless network.

The Bell IP Service Network Engineering (ISNE) team within Core Network Management group is responsible for the design, engineering, and capacity management of various IP based Service Networks (ISNs).

Including:

* Fibe TV core (Super Video head End and Video Hub Offices)
* Internet POP’s (DNS POP’s, ISN DMZ, VCE V-Blocks, etc)
* VoIP Service POP’s (911, SIP Trunking, FTTH, BTCV, IP Conferencing, etc)
* Network Management LAN

This career opportunity is for a dynamic and innovative individual that can take on the challenge to help grow and manage the VoIP cloud. The service portfolio is rapidly expanding, and on the horizon is IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem).

The successful candidate will be accountable to do the following:

* Work with TD to help architect network designs.
* Create NDDs (Network Design Documents) to detail the layer 1, 2 and 3 network design.
* Create DDSs (Detailed Design Specifications) to configure various network elements (routers, switches, session border controllers, etc).
* Optimize network performance and efficiency to ensure the best use of existing infrastructure.
* Plan for and justify financial investments.
* Assist service assurance teams in troubleshooting complex network issues.
* Attend cutovers when needed.

Critical Competencies:

* Gifted outside the box thinker who is driven, proactive, and extremely resourceful in learning new technologies on the fly in an unstructured, dynamic environment
* Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
* Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
* Team player who reaches out to other groups for knowledge and assistance.
* Strong knowledge of SIP signaling, Ethernet, routing protocols (MPLS, M-BGP, OSPF, etc)
* Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco (IOS and IOS-XR) and Juniper (JunOS) routers/switches.

Preferred Competencies:

* Post-secondary degree in computer science or applied science (eg. Engineering).
* Fundamental systems networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing protocols and principles).
* Sound understanding of:
* IP/MPLS technologies.
* Routing and switching.
* QoS.
* Internetworking hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel, etc.).

* Hands-on working experience in the networking arena.
* Additional vendor specific training (eg. CCNA, CCDP, CCNP, CCIP, JNCIA, JNCIP) is an asset.
* System Integration experience – distributed server applications, firewall rules, load balancing, network traffic analysis.
* Scripting/Programming skills: PowerShell, .NET Framework, VBScript, T-SQL.

* Intimate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of other MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
* Working knowledge SANs.
* Familiarity with Disaster Recovery concepts, online backups, capacity management, remote access technologies.
