The Bell Mobility team offers a full range of wireless products and services for residential and business customers, including the largest selection of superphones on the fastest and most advanced network technology.

 

The Radio division of Bell Mobility plans, designs, builds, and operates Push To Talk (PTT) Land Mobile Radio networks providing managed services for government agencies and Public Safety users. The work is very diversified and requires autonomy on the part of employees.

 

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the successful candidate will focus his/her primary efforts to develop integrated solutions to requirements; these could involve the use of the following Radio Systems manufacturers:  Motorola, Harris, Airbus, TAIT, Kenwood or other radio products.  The System Engineer/Technologist will provide other value added services as necessary to support the sales effort to pursue future Public Safety opportunities.  

 

In order to successfully accomplish his/her duties, the Pre-Sales Engineer will participate in project implementation, co-ordination, budget management, negotiate  vendor / partnering agreements, interact  with regulatory agencies (such as Industry Canada), interact with all Mobility family functional groups, interact with customers both for sales support and project implementation and provide technical documentation, support and training to others.  The successful candidate will be responsible for researching communications hardware and application software advancements to maintain technical expertise and familiarity with advancements in technology.

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

The incumbent will take part in various activities related to the deployment of Mobile Radio solutions and  will be responsible for:

  • evaluating requirements and recommending effective solutions
  • preparing risk analysis and budgetary opportunity value
  • developing technical proposals in response to customer requirements including written responses to RFQs and RFPs
  • system design & detailed engineering
  • service / component selection and preparing detailed proposal costing
  • participate in implementation co-ordination
  • project budget management
  • interaction with all Mobility family functional groups
  • interaction with customers both for sales support and project implementation
  • providing technical documentation
  • researching communications hardware and application software advancements to maintain technical expertise and familiarity with advancements in technology

 

Competencies / essentials skills:

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technologist diploma with experience in radio systems engineering
  • Minimum of five (5)  years experience in Land Mobile Radio (LMR), project management, technical sales support or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Creativity, resourcefulness and an ability to independently learn new technologies

 

Preferred additional skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with customer interface/issue resolution
  • Network implementation engineering
  • Knowledge of Motorola Smartzone 4.1 and Astro 25
  • Knowledge of APCO P25 , DMR and Tetra trunked radio networks
  • Radio terminal configuration
  • Dispatch console system implementation
  • IP-based equipments and server integration
  • Provisioning and configuration of network equipment
