The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.
The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.
Technical Advisor, Analyst
The IT Network & New Technology delivery is a dynamic team comprised of information technology professionals accountable to deliver projects from the New Technology Introduction, New Product Introduction and Operations work programs to Bell Operations. This team is responsible for the Design, Delivery and Execution of integrated IT solutions which meet the needs of the business.
Our team is central in the standardization of Bell’s Total connect VoIP activation and configuration.
Job duties / accountabilities
- Define IT solutions for the activation of VoIP services.
- Responsible for understanding the organization needs of systems integration.
- Technical Analyst and Advisor for enterprise switch provisioning/activation application.
- Function in a project-based environment, working with various information technology, network and business operations subject-matter experts to successfully document, test and deliver complex technical solutions.
- Act as subject matter expert for SIPCIP application design pertaining to development, performance and architecture.
- Analyze and document systems, network and technical requirements.
- Participate in the due diligence process by providing guidelines and project signoff.
- Work with offshore development vendor to ensure quality on-time deliverables.
- Document and track feature enhancement and defect correction requests.
- Design of affordable and scalable systems & network solutions, assist with testing introduced solutions including supporting root cause analysis as well as lead their deployments.
- Provide high-level project estimates for planning purposes.
- Troubleshoot production issues as 3rd-level escalation contact.
Essential skills / competencies:
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information System management
- 5+ years of experience delivering scalable enterprise systems
- Experience in IT analysis and modeling (business, object-oriented, relational databases).
- Proven track record in systems integration. Solid experience is software development and infrastructure design for large scale distributed systems and applications
- Experience in performance analysis.
- Strong analytical skills (quantitative and iterative), coupled with strong ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
- Excellent development skills and experience in major programming languages (Java, Perl, shell, etc)
- Extensive experience in the full solutions development cycle.
- Ability to conceptualize and think abstractly, and work and manage in technically xomplex environment.
Preferred skills / competencies:
- Experience with leading edge concepts and techniques (high availability, clusters and load balancing, Oracle performance analysis tools, J2EE).
- Experience with Web Services – Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, SOA, XML, SOAP
- Deep knowledge of DB systems : Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, SQL, data modeling, performance analysis
Good coordination & planning skills
- Proven ability to meet aggressive deadlines & work under pressure.
- Ability to build bridges with technical & non-technical teams.
- Autonomy & focus. Ability to get the things done & cut through the noise.
- Bilingualism (English, French) an asset & good communication skills (written, oral).
Working Conditions:
- Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet hard deadlines and available to work occasional overnights to take part in deployment activities
- Ability to travel within Montreal, Ottawa, London and Toronto corridors with little advance notification; travel depending on project needs
- Full time teleworking is not an option.
