Bell Media Communications is looking for a Publicist to support programming priorities for Discovery networks, as part of the News, Radio, Factual, and Community Investment team. If you love television, have polished publicity skills, want to be part of an industry leading team working on the most-watch programming in Canada, and meet the required qualifications listed below, we’d like to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
• Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Communications, the Publicist will plan and execute strategic and proactive communications plans to ensure clear, consistent, and appropriate messaging for programming on Discovery’s suite of properties.
• Develop key messages, core concepts and corporate positioning for channels, programming, and on-air talent.
• Build and maintain relationships with print, radio, and online media through regular contact and pitches.
• Develop communications materials including press releases, bios, backgrounders, etc for external communications purposes.
• Plan and execute press conferences, photo shoots, red carpet events, and
press junkets as required.
• Respond to media and internal parties’ requests for publicity materials.
• Create and analyze post-mortem and other reports as required.
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Completion of a public relations degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years’ experience in Communications within the communications/media/entertainment industry.
• Superior written and verbal communications skills.
• Evidence of good working relationships with the media.
• The ability to liaise professionally with members of the media, on-air personalities, producers, and other internal and external contacts.
• Demonstrable understanding and passion for Canada's television production community and entertainment industry.
• Knowledge of Discovery programming and talent is a plus.
• The ability to take initiative and work well under pressure.
• The candidate must be detail oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• Must be highly organized and able to juggle numerous projects simultaneously while supporting team priorities.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
