The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.
The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The Technical Prime role within the IT/BRS organization is a highly specialized role to support delivery of the different initiatives on the BRS Ordering, Bell Internet and Bell TV system domains. The Technical Prime is involved in every phase of the projects, and also in capacity planning, hardware/software upgrades, network requirements/impacts, system specifications and design.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Lead & participate in early design sessions, working closely with multiple vendors
- Participate in code reviews
- Work with the business analysts and vendor teams to ensure the solutions matches the FMO
- Assess load increases and plan performance testing accordingly
- Oversee and assist the vendors and project team in all test phases (system testing, functional testing etc.)
- Participate in deployment strategy with the deployment prime
- Build presentations & communicate the release changes (technical) to the support teams
- Occasional assistance to the production support teams to resolve production issues

Qualifications/Competencies:
Training and Education
- College degree, Bachelor or Master in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering or similar
Knowledge
- General understanding of IT standards (ITIL, ETOM, etc.)
- General understanding of network concepts (OSI model, basic network principles, etc.)
- General understanding of hardware/hosting platforms
- Understanding of software architecture patterns & practices – mandatory
Software
- OS (Unix/AIX/Solaris/Linux – mandatory, Windows) – optional
- Java/J2EE Application servers (Weblogic, WebSphere, JBoss, etc.) – mandatory
- Java enterprise application frameworks
- Web Services / SOA, N-Tier Architectures - mandatory
- Development
- Java / J2EE – mandatory
- XML / SOAP XML / XSLT / XQuery - mandatory
- C# / .Net
- C / C++
Databases
- Oracle PL/SQL, SQL - mandatory

Experience

- Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet hard deadlines and available to work occasional overnights to take part in deployment activities
