Position Description:

Bell Business Markets is seeking a Senior Manager, Network Operations to join their team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing vision and direction in the area of network operations while managing and prioritizing network operations and service delivery. The candidate must possess a Government of Canada Secret Level clearance.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling, establishing and advocating operations policies, procedures and best practices including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, and service provision.

 

The Senior Manager, Network Operations has management accountability for all network implementations within Managed Services Security Operations.

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:

  • Ensures the highest level of quality of operational services in the delivery of availability services and support of production systems, applications and processing
  • Coaches and mentors team leads and team members, provides guidance in the resolution of critical issues that may impact established service levels or service expectations
  • Provides key operational metrics for all network operations processes
  • Manages the relationship with different vendors
  • Validates and monitors the performance and compliance to SLA for services provided
  • Provides direction feedback & strategy on network systems performance in production
  • Is able to identify deficient systems and make continuous improvements
  • Stays current with industry trends in networking technologies as related to the services provided
  • Provides input to the Financial and Capital Planning processes as well as technology impacts to the department

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Seasoned Management / Team Lead experience
  • Global help desk operations experience using ITIL based management methodologies
  • Extensive exposure to in-house and out sourced data centre management - space, power, cooling planning/management
  • Broad knowledge and track record of maintaining WAN, LAN, Routers, Firewalls and load balancers
  • Experience with many of the following: Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Juniper, McAfee, Cisco (UCS servers, firewalls and network devices)
  • Good understanding and experience with SNMP-based network management systems
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture principles and best practice
  • Good understanding of Secure networking architecture in the Federal Government context
  • Experienced in providing production support for business software applications
  • Fiscal planning and budget management experience
  • Excellent organization management skills including career development and performance management
  • Exceptional people management skills with the ability to lead and influence the team
  • Self motivated individual who is goal oriented with the ability to motivate others
  • Ability to analyze and have strong decision making skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage conflict
  • Must be flexible, resilient and resourceful
  • Highly developed relationship management skills
  • Well-developed communication, facilitation, negotiation and people skills
  • 10+ years of experience in IT and/or network management
  • Post Secondary Education or related experience
  • Must hold a valid Government of Canada Secret security clearance
