The Wireless Core Data Engineering team is responsible for the proper implementation and monitoring of functional, performance and capacity requirements in the production network for Bell’s high speed mobile data and voice services.
Reporting to the Manager, Wireless Core Data Engineering, the successful candidate is a dynamic, technical and execution-focused Project Manager leading the development, test and implementation phases of new wireless technology at Bell Mobility. This role requires superior technical, interpersonal and organizational skills, and provides an excellent opportunity for existing technical project managers or senior wireless engineers to sharpen their management skills in an exciting and dynamic technology development work environment.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Wireless Core Data Engineering, you will provide technical leadership in the planning and implementation of wireless core networks responsible for delivering Bell’s high speed mobile data and voice services.
Specifically, you will act as a network program/platform prime in ensuring the proper implementation and monitoring of functional, performance and capacity requirements in the production network, as follows:
- Engineer and deploy new generation wireless packet data and voice network infrastructure
- Plan, maintain and improve network and service availability, performance and capacity
- Develop and implement KPI/KQIs
- Implement network solutions for wireless data and voice services
- Provide 4th level support on wireless network design issues
- Prime network projects and ensure successful delivery of business objectives
- Manage network budgets and drive CAPEX and OPEX efficiency improvements
- Partner with internal and external business units to deliver common packet and circuit switched core network objectives
- Document designs and conduct information sharing sessions for operations and service management prime
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three to seven years of relevant engineering and project/program management experience in telecommunications within the wireline and/or wireless sectors
- Experienced in delivering large scale projects working with multiple vendors and large virtual teams of various disciplines
- Strong knowledge and working experience in some or all of the following areas:
- IP, QoS and LAN/WAN internetworking technologies
- 3G/4G networks, systems, services and standards
- Network usage, billing systems and applications
- ITIL service management best practices
- Lean and Agile methodologies
- Business and project/program management
- Proven interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with a passion for results
- Customer focus and people oriented
- Excellent analytical skills
- Self-sufficient and strong ability to adapt to changes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
- Previous architectural, engineering or operational work experience with some of the following platforms:
- MGW, MSS, HLR/HSS
- TAS/IMS
- Bilingual in English and French a strong asset
