Responsibilities:
• Generating news stories for Newstalk1010 radio, including writing, reporting, interviewing, editing, providing creative input and generally producing radio news stories.
• Creating and maintaining community contacts while adhering to all station, company and CRTC rules and regulations.
• Will be ready to do “ live “ reporting as required.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Must possess a strong “On Air” presence & ability to interact well with others on air.
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years successful radio on-air broadcasting experience in a News radio environment.
• College level Broadcast Journalism Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to write and craft a story well.
• Ability to perform in a “live” environment.
• Proven knowledge of local, national and international news events.
• Strong people skills and a good understanding of journalistic ethics are mandatory.
• Proven skills and knowledge of technical requirements of radio production.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Able to work to deadlines and demonstrate attention to detail.
• Valid ‘G’ drivers license (Ontario) required.
• Able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Organizational and time management skills are a must.
• Proficient in Burli news software, social media, and website application.
