A Master Control Operator acts as a main point of contact within BellTV able to determine all causes of service affecting issues and their immediate resolution using internal and external resources.
Job duties / accountabilities:
- Inform WVOC/Call Centre of any issues that are service affecting.
- Checking the accuracy of the Interactive Program guide and performing corrections where needed.
- Analyze and document transmission performance.
- Quality checks and encodes content for VOD.
- End to end IPTV signal flow knowledge.
- Working knowledge of each department involved in the IPTV Platform.
- Maintain communication with service providers as required.
- Communicate with other departments any changes or issues concerning the system.
- Proficient in the channel launch/move process.
- Knowledge of CGs; DEKO, Inscriber, Still Store, RTX.
- Logging on-air faults in an internal database.
- Patching around equipment failures.
- Manage channel play lists, import schedules, export logs, and ensure schedules are consistent with EPG. Manually create and maintain schedules for promotion/information channels and HDTV.
Essential Qualifications / competencies:
- Ability to adapt to new technology, solve problems quickly and efficiently, able to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of IP Networking for data transfer.
- Knowledge of Broadcast Centre signal flow. Troubleshoot technical issues, ability to coordinate, reroute or patch to minimize downtime and restore service.
- Good communication skills and strong technical vocabulary.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to train new operators.
- Prioritize workload and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Thorough knowledge of High Definition, Digital and Analog Broadcast Technology
Education Requirements:
- Post Secondary Graduate Diploma – Broadcasting or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Windows based Computer Programs.
Preferred Qualifications / competencies:
- Waveform/Vector scope.
Working conditions:
- Rotate through a 24/7 schedule.
