The Network team includes Wireline, Wireless, TV Engineering and Operations as well as the Bell Media Network. All of the teams come together to innovate, plan, design, build and operate our networks to be recognized by customers as the Best networks in Canada and abroad.
The Role:
The successful candidates joining the Network team will be given the opportunity to get hands on experience using next generation technology, receive technical and business development training and will have the ability to drive the evolution of Canada’s largest telecommunications network.
Working closely with Product Marketing, Sales, and Field Services, as well as our customers and vendors, we strive to execute on our number one priority: delivering Canada’s Best Network to our customers. Our people are making great things happen across the country and are supported with growth, training and personal development opportunities.
We have several opportunities available in our organization and key responsibilities may include:
* Developing test plans, conducting tests in a lab environment and managing key vendor relationships for wireless, TV and wireline technologies
* Developing Network plans to support legacy and next generation networks
* Expanding and improving web based applications
* Planning, designing, capacity managing network power and building space infrastructure
* Designing and project managing access network facilities with the goal to expand our wireless and fiber networks as well as to increase network capacity
* Managing private and public right-of-way requests as well as external relationships with municipalities, utilities and developers
* Supporting wireless and wireline network operations and surveillance teams in order to improve skills , drive trouble resolution and identify root causes of failures.
* Support the development, provisioning, maintenance and security of networks
* Financial management of projects to ensure cost effective and just in time provisioning, on time and on budget delivery
* Prepare business cases to secure funding based on network investment directives, risk management, installation and reliability standards and applicable codes and sound business rationales.
* Perform analysis of network data and develop models to identify trends and predict future usage.
Required Competencies:
* Degree in civil, mechanical, systems design, software, electrical or computer engineering, computer science or related discipline
* Some knowledge/experience in Optical, Ethernet, RF and IP technologies
* Knowledge software such as MS Office, CAD software and other applications
* Ability to work in a team as well as independently
* Resourcefulness; thrives on challenge and change, reacts with proactive and innovative work solutions
* Desire to continue self education and learning
* Interpersonal skills and client focus
* Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to effectively manage stress
* Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
Preferred Competencies:
* Knowledge of telecommunications
* Knowledge of Bell’s products and services
* Familiarity with broadband network architectures
* Industry certifications achieved, such as CCIE or JNCIE would be an asset
* Strong business acumen
* Strong understanding of project management
* Excellent analytical skills and sense of responsibility, as well as sound judgment
* Bilingual – French and English
