The Bell Business Markets Atlantic Professional Services team provides consulting services to public and private sector clients across Atlantic Canada. Utilizing industry best practices and standard methodologies, our regional team of experts provides professional services to major vertical markets including government, healthcare, and human services. Our multi-disciplined team offers consulting, systems development, systems integration and application support that enables our clients to make critical decisions that drive their business goals. Within its Nova Scotia practice, Bell specializes in delivering Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse (DWH) solutions to our clients using industry leading toolsets and methodologies.
We have an immediate requirement for a Senior Business Intelligence Consultant, with in-depth knowledge of the IBM Cognos suite of tools, Business Objects (BOBJ) suite of tools, Microsoft BI tools and other BI tools, to join our team of professional consultants in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This position involves working as a member of our dynamic delivery team which delivers BI & DWH consulting services and solutions throughout all stages of the project lifecycle from initiation through to completion to our clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform requirements analyses in order to understand, recommend and design optimal solutions using the most appropriate tools and best practices
- Utilize Bell’s methodology and develop project deliverables as appropriate
- Configure data models and develop reports, cubes and scorecards
- Prepare and execute test plans to validate that the system components function according to the designs
- Work closely with our clients to develop an understanding of the impacts of the new solution on clients’ existing work environments to identify areas of potential business change
- Support clients’ User Acceptance Testing processes
- Provide knowledge transfer to clients during final transition stages of projects
- Work with Sales and Delivery on business development activities
- Lead the effort in growing the BI practice within our practice
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or other Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent IT diploma from a recognized educational institution
- Minimum of 4 years of practical hands on experience with Cognos, BOBJ or Microsoft implementations
- Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task with changing priorities
- Proficiency with SQL
- Leadership qualities including being goal-oriented and results driven
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to lead requirements definition/solution design workshops
- Knowledge of BI and DWH methodologies including architecture and design
- Ability to present ideas/solutions to peers and clients, as well as, assist in sales and pre-sales support activities as required (development of presentations, demonstrations, proposals, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in performing multiple roles throughout the development lifecycle
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure while delivering within given budgets
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:
- Delivering projects in a consulting services firm
- ERP platforms (i.e. PeopleSoft, Banner or SAP)
- Oracle or MS SQL databases
- Data extraction, transformation and load tools (i.e. IBM Cognos Data Manager, MS SSIS, IBM Data Stage or others)
- Other BI tool sets such as Tableau
