Network Connectivity Specialist, Bell Mobility

The Transport Engineering group, within this organization, provides network infrastructure planning, implementation and facility design specifications in support of the LTE, HSPA, CDMA and EVDO wireless networks.

 

Job duties / Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Connectivity Engineering, you will be responsible and accountable for transport network projects and performance of a specific geographical area in the Ontario Region. Your job will be to execute, and coordinate transport network engineering activities with the different team members of your area, respecting service and Key Performance Indicators (service, quality, budget, efficiency).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze actual and future transport network topology to accommodate growth in Ethernet or TDM traffic in a cost effective configuration.
  • Coordinate delivery of transport network elements/hardware for a designated area of the transport network.
  • Analyze connectivity requests for new and existing cell sites and provide circuit design for Ethernet or TDM type circuits.
  • Ensure that transport network elements and circuits are documented in central databases such as Granite.
  • Represent transport engineering during Zone meetings with RF eng, construction, real estate, field ops, eqpt eng and network provisioning
  • Propose strategic network improvements to increase robustness and improve reliability
  • Manage implementation for the modernization of the internal Transport network infrastructure
  • Analyze and manage the capacity of the transport and access networks at switch locations.
  • Ongoing consultations with Bell wire line to communicate and update facilities forecasts
  • Plan with Bell wire line transport and access network structure and capacity growth
  • Optimize transport network for cost effectiveness (CAPEX and OPEX)
  • Utilizing in depth knowledge of specific networking protocols, equipment, technology, and network management processes and methodologies to facilitate the effective and efficient implementation of network solutions
  • Introduction/enhancement of network infrastructure solutions for new IP service networks
  • Negotiate dates for Transport delivery with Project Implementation

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Electronics Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience with Transport network design or implementation on large scale enterprise network infrastructures
  • Strong knowledge of Router/switch technologies, IP networking, network security, firewalls
  • Able to develop complete end to end Transport network design with associated configuration implementation plans
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong management skills required, particularly in the areas of organization, influence, and communications
  • Understand network service enabling process and methodology.

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

  • A degree or diploma in Engineering preferably specializing in Telecommunications or equivalent working experience
  • Multiplexing networks, microwave networks, databases and SNMP.
  • IP routing and LAN switching on large scale enterprise network infrastructures experience is an asset.

 

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
