Our Network team plans, designs, builds and operates Bell’s multi-billion dollar networks, including the continued expansion of our fibre optic network, HSPA+ and LTE —  Canada’s largest and fastest wireless network.

You will work with multi disciplinary teams (marketing, technology, operations, and external partners) to deploy new exciting services/features. You will be responsible to evaluate, design and deploy new systems and functionalities for Bell Mobility value added services.

The chosen candidate will join a dynamic team that is in charge of engineering services like location based services, messaging services (SMS/RCS, MMS, Voicemail, Push-to-Talk) various gateways and proxies, databases, and many others. You will also be responsible for sustaining the existing services through capacity and equipment life cycle management, as well as supporting the operation teams during incident resolution. 

 

You will take part in our team transformation towards Agile methodologies and use your skills to automate tasks (testing, validation) with scripts or code to improve efficiency and accelerate delivery time of services.

Candidates will be chosen based on how they can fully demonstrate a fit for this position through specific examples from their previous roles and experiences and their ability to learn and adapt.

 

The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Plan, design, configure and size Software/Hardware systems in production environment.
  • Define and deliver system key performance indicators.
  • Participate in test planning and execution.
  • Perform on-going assessments, drive optimization and quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute or lead process improvement initiatives typically associated with delivery times and efficiency
  • Provide engineering support on end-to-end problem resolution and root cause analysis in collaboration with other functional groups, business units and vendors.
  • Perform project management.

 

Required competencies/essential skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer/electrical engineering (Work experience considered) or a technical computer/electrical degree with experience
  • Experience in design, testing, quality assurance and integrating applications/systems
  • Strong background in  Unix, or Linux (Redhat, Ubuntu, CentOS)
  • Familiar with standard applications such as  Apache, MySQL, Oracle, LDAP
  • Hands on IP network skills
  • Interest in working in an Agile/devops environment
  • Able to structure the resolution of complex problems efficiently
  • Team work, Quick learner and strong leadership

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

 

  • Networking knowledge
  • Scripting or programming skills with Python, shell scripting, Perl, Java, C++ or equivalent
  • Storage environment (SAN)
  • Database knowledge
  • Linux certification, Oracle certification
  • Cellular networks knowledge: HSPA, LTE, IMS
  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Agile / Lean / Six Sigma experience
  • Solid experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, KVM, Linux Containers, Docker
  • Familiar with software development lifecycle principles and some of the related tools
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization such as OpenStack, SDN/NFV, OpenDaylight or ONOS

 

 

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
