Description of the hiring department

The Business Intelligence Team within Bell Wholesale Division provides reporting and analytical insight to Marketing, Sales, and Service organizations to support day-to-day operations and strategic planning. The team plays an integral role in decision-making at multiple levels of management through complex analyses, predictive modeling, data definition and standardization, data mining, reporting, as well as sourcing external data from 3rd party relationships.
The Bell Wholesale team is looking for a Senior Manager with a strong background in business intelligence and data management practices. Candidate should also be a process champion who would oversee key IT efficiency projects. The individual would be responsible for leading the BI team, developing the BI practice further, and create a roadmap for the coming years.
The role
The Senior Manager will participate in the design, development, testing and maintenance aspects of business intelligence applications and processes, product pricing tools and customer price-books. The Senior Manager is also accountable for supporting the activities related to the collection, review, cleansing, quality and reporting of key business metrics.
Strong analytical skills, technical acumen and demonstrated experience in data gathering, data analysis, conceptual and logical models and physical data design are required. We are seeking a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and highly developed problem solving abilities.
Key accountabilities:
- Coach and manage a team of BI Specialists, including on boarding new team members
- Create and maintain business and competitive intelligence processes, tools and databases to support the development of product, customer and market segment strategies and programs within Bell Wholesale
- Design, develop, test and maintain product pricing tools and customer price books based on customer specific requirements (location, speed, etc.)
- Assist Product Management and Sales with developing responses to complex bids
- Manage Pricing and Qualification tools
- Lead the planning, identification, development and implementation of design and/or changes to key reports and adhoc requests
- Ensure outputs are delivered accurately and within agreed-upon timelines
- Present key findings to management teams and business stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery of BI insights to business stakeholders
- Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities to apply new BI insights to various areas of the organization
- Provide technical expertise and implement BI best practices
- Enforce standards around documentation, development and overall quality of deliverables
- Act as steward for standards around data model, data dictionary and implementation of business rules and definitions
- Rationalize new data requirements to avoid data duplication
Essential skills competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science along with 6-12 years of related experience, with at least 2+ years of management experience leading teams
- 6+ Years experience in implementing successful data integration and BI efforts
- Strong technical skills with all data warehousing and related technologies (TERADATA, SAS, BIGDATA/Hadoop, MicroStrategy, Tableau)
- Past experience in project delivery in Agile method/Iterative approach
- Strong understanding of data modeling skills (normalized and multidimensional)
- Proven ability to manage in a complex matrix structure
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnership and client relationship
- Proven project management and change management skills
- Solid business acumen – must be able to understand the key drivers of success and growth and redirect resources to deliver results
- Experience with product pricing and costing techniques, concepts and financial terms
- Ability to manage and understand customers’ needs and able to find and process company data to support business decision
- Ability to deal effectively with ambiguous situations and short time frames
- Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills
- Team player and quick learner with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, be a self starter and comfortable with ambiguity
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to lead and influence immediate and extended multi-disciplinary teams, including Sales, Finance, Operations, Network Planning, Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Help Desk, Legal, and Regulatory Matter
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, particularly in the area of customer and competitor/industry analysis, with an ability to extract strategic themes and quickly draw meaningful conclusions
- Resourceful, autonomous, disciplined self-starter, with the ability to work independently and as part of an extended team
- Knowledge of Telecommunication products and networks
Preferred skills
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office (including VBA)
- Advanced proficiency working with large databases and Enterprise Warehouse, SQL, SAS, VBA, PL-SQL and GIS applications
- HTML Programming

- Strong statistical, interpretative, analytical and problem-solving skills
