Position Description:
Bell ICT is seeking a Senior Network Solutions Consultant to be an expert-level, senior technical resource within the Bell ICT Professional Services team. This Senior Network Solutions Consultant will be responsible for providing senior-level consulting for customers and internal resources, serving as technical escalation for Bell staff, researching and training others on new technologies and product features, as well as working with Bell Sales Specialists and customers to gather business requirements and design / build appropriate internetworking environments.
This position features the candidate’s ability and experience with Network technologies. Extensive real-world experience with Internetworking environments is required. Experience with assessing, designing, and implementing large installations within an enterprise or service provider environment are highly valued.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
- Assess customers’ existing network environments (inventories, performance, redundancy / recovery plans and, capacity) and produce recommendations for improvements and enhancements, including development of strategic roadmaps
- Responsible to architect, design and implement Network solutions based on customer requirements, including major multi-site institution-wide deployments
- Provide technical leadership for network solution implementations, including configuration.
- Prepare and maintain technical, process and operations documentation
- Ensure internal staff and customers are provided with timely and accurate project information and status updates
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for other professional services consultants
- Work with Bell Sales Specialists to identity opportunities and provide presales support including preparation and presentation of Statements of Work, Design documents and Implementation plans.
- Scope solutions, including time & cost estimates and development of task lists/plans
- Contribute to the strategic planning of Bell’s Professional Services offerings
- Participate in development, training and enforcement of team standards and best practices
- Provide input regarding opportunities for continuous process/productivity improvements to ensure cost effectiveness and to gain efficiencies and improve delivery success.
- Develop and maintain a productive working relationships with the client project team and sponsor throughout the project lifecycle
- Stay current and be conversant with technology and industry standards – educate/share with other consultants and other internal stakeholders. Analyze their applicability and implement when it makes sense
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- Experience in the design, configuration, troubleshooting and support of complex networking solutions including Cisco and HP network infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to design LAN infrastructure
- Routing and switching expertise
- Network architecture and solution design practices based on the gathering of technical and business requirements
- Performing assessments and presenting results and recommendations to Senior Level Management
- Creating high-level and technical level implementation plans
- Network routing protocols; TCP/IP, OSPF, etc
- QoS, WAN, DSL, MPLS, etc
- Knowledge of Network Monitoring, Network Optimization, Application Acceleration and Network Load Balancing solutions is an asset
- In order to support the integration of broader Bell solutions into customer environments, knowledge of any of the following technologies is an asset:
- Converged technologies including, but not limited to, IP-Telephony, Unified Communications
- Wireless LAN technology including Aruba, Cisco and Motorola
- Network Security solutions, such as Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint, etc
Other Qualifications/Competencies:
- University degree, relevant college diploma or equivalent related work experience
- 8+ years of IT experience, with minimum of 5 years of experience with Internetworking technologies
- Proven experience with large and/or complex technical environments
- Experience in a lead role is an asset
- Experience in a consulting role is a strong asset
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills – experience preparing and delivering management presentations and reports
- Exemplary customer service skills – strong desire to help internal and external users
- Strong positive, can-do attitude
- Prefers to work in a fast-paced environment and be a member of a closely-knit, high performance team
- Ability to work independently when needed and ability to handle multiple priorities seamlessly
- Ability to relate to and understand internal and external resources at all organizational levels
- Desire to learn and become familiar with new technologies; assimilate knowledge quickly and effectively
- Cisco CCIE certification preferred, but will consider CCNP certification with commitment to actively pursue CCIE certification.
- Fortinet, Checkpoint, NetScout and/or Riverbed experience is an asset
- ITIL Certification is an asset
