The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.
The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.
The Bell Canada Information Technology Project Delivery team (Wireless) is looking for a Business Systems Analyst to participate in the delivery of IT solutions for the Mobility business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Business/Systems analysis and will partner with other IT teams and external vendors (CGI, Amdocs, IBM, etc.) in the delivery of key IT business initiatives. The initial focus of this effort will be the Wireless Network Mediation system. Job duties / accountabilities:
- The Business Systems Analyst, working under the direction of the Project Manager, is responsible for gathering and documenting the business requirements and then ensuring that the deliverables produced by the development effort conform to the business requirements.
- Beyond the facilitation of the up-front business requirements and system requirements gathering sessions and resulting documentation, the role also involves driving the user acceptance testing process, including preparation of acceptance criteria, review of the test plans and scenarios, review of test results as well as taking responsibility for end to end testing. In some cases the Business Systems Analyst also executes test cases and directly ensures system integrity.
- The Business System Analyst is also involved in reviewing key development and design deliverables, including interface specifications, integration requirements, data schemas, and design documentation, as well as the business’s implementation and conversion strategies and plans.
- Contributing to the project planning and administration.
- The Business Systems Analyst assists in developing the project charter documentation, including helping with the high-level plan, the feasibility analysis, and in developing the business case. In addition, the Business Systems Analyst helps co-ordinate the project by arranging project meetings, following up on issues and sign-offs, producing status documentation and meeting minutes and informing team members of decisions made.
Essential Skills / Competencies:
- Post secondary computer science degree with a business focus, or equivalent, and/or business degree with a computer science focus, as well as 3 –5 years in a Business Systems Analysis role.
- Related experience as a Senior Programmer/Designer or Systems Analyst.
- Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary JAD sessions.
- Significant experience dealing with multiple vendors in the creation of end to end solutions.
- Leadership experience defining requirements and solutions related to Telecommunications Billing and Customer Care processes.
- Absolute ability to see the business problem and business solution in the eyes of the customer.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Visio).
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Sound business acumen.
Preferred Skills /Competencies:
- Knowledge of Network Mediation
- Knowledge of wireless network usage billing records
- Familiarity with Network Provisioning and the Ensemble Billing and Customer Care platforms.
- Familiarity with wireless telecommunications networks
- Familiarity with SQL
- Familiarity with relational databases
- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux servers
- Knowledge of Bell Canada’s IT environment
Working Conditions:
- Ability to efficiently work in virtual teams, handling multiple projects
- Availability to work overtime and occasional weekends/evenings to meet project deadlines and/or to participate in deployment activities
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
