The Bell Canada Network 3.0 team is looking for Technical Architects to drive the Network 3.0 architecture and vision. Candidates should be self motivated, open minded and a passion for creativity. The successful candidates will partner closely with the various architecture teams across the company (i.e. IT, Network, BBM, etc) in order gain and maintain alignment. The successful candidates will work with multi-disciplinary teams from across the organization, utilizing the Scrum/Agile techniques, in order to support Network 3.0 value streams in their delivery of solutions to customers. The candidates must have a very strong technical background complimented with strong business experience.  

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

 

  • Create, document and continuously evolve Network 3.0 target architecture, including guiding principals
  • Work closely with domain architects (Network, IT, DC) to provide 3.0 architectural support for value streams and other ongoing projects
  • Ensure holistic Bell architecture approach by acting as a neutral not domain or business specific entity
  • Seek and leverage input from architecture teams across the company in order to rally around Network 3.0 vision and architecture
  • Support delivery teams by providing detailed architecture for specific use cases as well as technical support throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Implement proofs of concept for various cutting edge technologies and tools
  • Work closely with Network 3.0 program manager in order to identify opportunities for alignment to Network 3.0 target architecture
  • Work closely with Product teams to specify requirements for new services and related use cases driving tactical execution of the 3.0 architecture
  • Keep abreast of latest technologies and trends in the industry and maintain “outside in” perspective
  • Balance between current realities and future vision
  • Drive innovation and find opportunities to leverage emergent technology
  • Communicate target architecture to a wide audience
  • Support delivery teams in technology and vendor selection
  • Maintain and communicate long term architecture vision but drive execution through short term use cases in the agile and iterative mode

 

Critical Competencies:

 

  • University Diploma 1st cycle in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Over 10 years of experience in computer and network technology in a telecommunications environment (Network, Security , VoIP, Servers)
  • Expertise in Linux, Unix, Windows, and network management tools
  • Excellent knowledge of various network protocols and technologies (i.e. IP, BGP, Ethernet, GPON, LTE)
  • Experience in telco IT architecture and knowledge of best practices and standards (i.e. TMF, TOGAF)
  • Good knowledge of Bell IT system
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Self-learning and hands on approach; ability to work with network equipment and IT tools
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Team player
  • Strong dedication to customer focus
  • Excellent knowledge of Visio , Word , Excel
  • Good knowledge of databases, infrastructure and security standards.
  • Good knowledge of Python and scripting languages

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and executing on key projects through cross functional teams
  • Knowledge of Bell Canada’s Products & Services as well as Network & IT environment.
  • Contribution to industry standards an asset
  • Existing network with various telcos and vendors around the globe

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet hard deadlines and available to work occasional overnights to take part in deployment activities

Fast paced, changing working environment

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
