The Bell Residential Services team is in the business of enabling customers to connect with people, information and entertainment by delivering integrated products and service experience for consumers while enhancing our competitiveness in the marketplace.  The team provides customers with Bell Home phone, local and long distance services, Bell Internet, Bell Satellite TV and amazing new technologies such as Bell Fibe TV.

Position Description:

 

In this high-visibility, strategic role, reporting to the VP of Strategic Fibre Projects, the
Director, Inventory and Logistics will manage and own all aspects of BRS inventory and supply chain logistics.  The candidate will develop the strategy and manage the ongoing operation of the end-to-end CPE supply chain with over $400M in annual spend.  Responsibilities  include relationships, contracting and fiduciary responsibility of OEMs and Third Party Logistics companies, managing transportation requirements, interacting with key stakeholders such as Product Development, Field Services & Customer Operations and liaising with several branches of government for environmental and health regulations. 

 

Successful candidates will be excellent leaders and make the customer experience flawless while maintaining a commitment to deliver every project on time, on budget and as profitable as possible.  The candidate will be a key interface between the hardware manufacturers, technology development, front-line, and back-office teams, while maintaining concise updates for the executive team.  This role requires leadership, maturity, and solid business acumen and an deep-seated impulse to sweat the details of a product, operations and projects.

 

Job Duties / Accountabilities:

 

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for inventory & logistics that includes a focus on customer service and efficiency.  
  • Lead a team of seasoned professionals responsible for all aspects of inventory and supply chain logistics.
  • Work with the team to identify and explore opportunities that can drive improvements in cost, customer experience and competitiveness.
  • Partner with teams in TD/IT/Network/Field/Call Centre and Marketing to understand key challenges, barriers and implications associated with inventory logistics activities. 
  • Understand potential supply risks and communicate the associated mitigation plans concisely to key stakeholders.
  • Manage  relationships with our hardware vendors and logistics providers including providing detailed requirements for future products and processes, negotiating pricing and operating agreements and managing ongoing operational issues.
  • Responsible for ensuring flawless execution of new equipment launches To ensure there are no supply chain or equipment issues on launch day
  • Work closely with transportation providers to control and minimize annual freight spend while maximizing service levels.
  • Forecast and plan projected hardware material requirements and manage the pipeline of assigned materials activity to ensure adequate resources are applied to improve cost control, volume changes, delivery accuracy and inventory availability.
  • Develop and manage internal and external relationships with partners pursuing opportunities to add value throughout distribution network.
  • Lead  inventory & logistics projects with all BRS governance processes by providing timely and accurate input to budgeting & planning exercises.  Also managing key stakeholders by ensuring that the Executive stakeholder team has constant visibility on progress vs. committed plans.

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

 

  • High analytical  and collaborative senior leader who has demonstrated ability to build effective processes and measures to ensure an efficient supply chain operation
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a logistics environment.
  • Possess knowledge or experience working with Field Services and Customer Operations.
  • A history of leadership in a delivery capacity with the proven ability to execute complex operations projects successfully
  • Solid business and financial acumen.  Must be able to understand and Accurately forecast financial impacts
  • Experience in multidisciplinary projects in strategy, technology and finance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and negotiating with external partners.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and track record of strong analytical and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly adjust to changing priorities, with proven organizational and project management skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and execution skills with ability to take initiative and “get the job done” attitude.

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

 

  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
  • Previous experience in hardware product management and logistics/marketing/finance, ideally in the fields of telecomm or home entertainment.
  • Experience in complex modelling and analysis; demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet applications and database management. Financial Management of Inventory and logistics which includes forecasting and tracking inventory
  • Track record of  business strategy and operations including business processes, revenue and cost components and drivers of these measures
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on projects
