The Information Technology team develops and maintains Bell’s internal systems and applications while also developing integrated technology solutions for customers across all lines of business.

The team manages Bell’s IT Infrastructure and the service availability of over 700 applications, including mission critical billing and service systems. The IT delivery teams drive the IT Work Program with over 60% of IT capital invested in initiatives that support business unit priorities and Bell’s strategic imperatives.

 

The Senior Solutions Architect role is within the Information Technology (IT) project delivery team, and will have an immediate focus on IT Security solutions.  The candidate will play a key role in planning and leading the delivery of a 3 to 5 year Roadmap and key projects in partnership with other IT security stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic guidance on both solution design and delivery planning in consideration of cost and timeline efficiencies, while delivering on scope and quality.
  • Work with business and IT partners to define new business concepts, investigate feasibility with key stakeholder and technical teams and produce conceptual solutions.
  • Work with and partner with external vendors in leading the technical architecture/design of existing and new solutions addressing IT security requirements.
  • Define scope and conceptual and technical solutions,
  • Assist project manager in providing time & cost estimates, development of task lists/plans, and actively identifying and managing project and design risks to minimize exposure.
  • Lead the development of and review of business requirements, impact assessments, system requirements specifications, technical designs, infrastructure and network requirements, conversion strategies, and test planning.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for team members and peers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Be the Technical Lead to guide project team members across multiple work streams toward key deliverables
  • Assist Project Manager in developing business cases and present at various councils and committees for review and approval

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Extensive experience with systems architecture and new technologies
  • Established leadership role in IT Security implementations and upgrades, with a key focus on application, integration, and Infrastructure projects.
  • A deep knowledge of IT security architecture and good understanding of cross-components solution sets and business process and systems integration.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills – experience preparing and delivering management presentations, conceptual and detailed solutions, and presenting and obtaining buy-in for strategic roadmaps.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and aptitude for articulating complex concepts to different audiences, with clarity and persuasiveness
  • Solid understanding of key infrastructure design elements i.e. Capacity, performance, and availability
  • Experience in defining solutions architecture and technically leading complex projects involving systems integration, upgrades and migrations and/or application development and deployment

 

Preferred Competencies

  • PCI-DSS security standards knowledge would be an asset
  • Strong positive, can-do attitude
  • Desire to learn and become familiar with new technologies; assimilate knowledge quickly and effectively
  • Prefers to work in a fast-paced environment in a high performance culture
  • A related University Degree and at least seven (7) years Systems Architecture and IT delivery experience with a demonstrated track record in large complex IT projects, working with virtual teams across multiple geographic locations
  • Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)

 

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to efficiently work in virtual teams, handling multiple projects
  • Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet hard deadlines and available to work occasional overnights to take part in deployment activities
