As the District General Manager in Alberta, the successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of all stores within his/her region as well establishing and communicating sales and profit targets to the district levels.
Duties:
- Work alongside the Vice-President, Sales to establish sales and profit targets for assigned districts within the region.
- Develop and manage the operating budget for the region and oversee district budgets while holding team accountable for results and exceeding established budget parameters.
- Conduct regular store visits with the District Sales Managers and provide feedback and support to management team. Make certain that all stores within the region meet established store operational and appearance standards.
- Work with the team to build a talent bench, making certain that succession plans are in place for critical markets.
- Responsible for overall sales growth and identifying new business prospects within the region. Participate in business planning, budgeting and strategy meetings to drive the business.
- Drive sales strategy as well as change within the region to create an in-store culture that is focused on consistently delivering exceptional, positive in-store customer experiences that meet our "Customer's Store of Choice" service standards and sales philosophy.
- Examine reports (e.g., inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the stores/districts and ensure optimum performance. Involve District Sales
- Managers as required to resolve operational issues that may arise.
- Ensure adherence to all sales, operations, asset protection and human resources related policies and programs for all store and district associates.
- Oversee human resources functions within area of responsibility including: recruitment & orientation of new staff, providing training and coaching opportunities (selling skills, product and operations knowledge), maintaining open communication, conducting performance and attendance management, and promoting corporate culture, values and retail branding.
Skills we’re looking for:
- Minimum 10 years' retail management experience preferably in the personal electronic and/or telecommunications industry with demonstrated and proven success stories.
- Previous multi-unit retail management experience is a must.
- Exceptional skills in time management, organization, communication and strong leadership qualities.
- Proven ability to build and sustain a successful, cohesive sales team is critical.
- Proven, effective coaching, leading and developmental skills are essential.
- Ability to read and manage budgets and P&L statements.
- High level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) required.
- Ability to travel within the district is required.
