Position: Operator (casual, part time)
Location: Fort St John, BC
Bell Media Radio is looking for someone to join our team of operators in Fort St John. We’re looking for someone who loves radio to be part of our team in the capacity of casual, Part-Time Operator. This position is perfect for a student or for someone who wants to earn a few extra dollars on the weekend.
Responsibilities:
- Downloading audio files from Internet websites and copying and processing (“dubbing”) these files. Work occurs in both the daytime and in the evening.
- Operating master on-air control room when the radio station is “on-location” for remote broadcasts. The work occurs mainly on weekends with a limited number on weekdays.
- Computer servers manage much of the station programming. It is part of an operator’s work duties to download programming and commercial files and import them into local servers for broadcast.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Basic computer literacy skills are a prerequisite including comfort in navigating through windows based software and familiarity with the principles of file uploading and downloading on the Internet.
- All broadcast employees must be team players, with good verbal and written communications skills.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are an asset.
- Must be flexible as many things happen last minute.
- Hours are variable and will change from week to week.
- References are required.
