The Business Unit Controllers team is seeking a motivated Manager within the controller organization for the BU Factories Controllers.
The Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager, Finance and is responsible for assuming responsibility for the financial integrity of the Business Unit. This position will require analyzing and interpreting current and projected financial performance, continuous improvement of financial processes and controls, reviewing and approving significant accounting entries, Balance sheet account analysis and other month end procedures. This position is also responsible for recommending and implementing accounting policies and standards that will enhance financial integrity and interpretation (i.e. capital vs. expense).
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Oversee financial accounting functions within the controller team and in partnership with other groups (i.e. Finance) by identifying issues and adhering to accounting policies using IFRS
- Oversee month end close procedures, such as approving monthly financial transactions and journal entries, balance sheet account analysis and quarterly reporting
- Manage accounting estimates and provisions via a deep understanding of business risks and processes
- Ensure financial integrity of results through the understanding of financial processes and controls.
- Assist the Senior Manager in identifying opportunities for process and policy improvements and implementing change where required
- Support the Senior Manager through understanding business initiatives, new product introductions, operating initiatives, process improvements and systems and technology projects.
- Partner with Finance for monthly variance analysis for Financial Reporting
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- 3 to 4 years of experience in Accounting and Finance
- Professional accounting designation (i.e. CA, CMA, CGA)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- In-depth problem solving and research skills
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
- Highly organized, ability to multi-task
- Must be a team player with superior interpersonal skills
- Experience with practical application of accounting principles that combines strong core technical abilities, industry specific knowledge, and a passion to understand business and financial processes
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Working knowledge of SAP
