The Network team plans, designs, builds and operates Bell’s multi-billion dollar networks, including the continued expansion of our fibre optic network, HSPA+ and LTE — Canada’s largest and fastest wireline and wireless network.
Hiring team
The Network Big Data Centre of Excellence and Business Intelligence team is accountable for leading data technology and data science initiatives across Bell’s Network. The team works to create and implement technology strategies and solutions to take advantage of vast amounts of Network data spanning wireless, wireline, TV, and Media to improve Bell’s network planning and operation as well as Bell customers’ user experience and to provide advance data related services.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of a newly established and growing Bell Network Data Centre of Excellence team and help execute key Big Data initiatives. You will have opportunities to apply and grow your data architecture skills by working with experts in the field and using state of the art BI and Big data tools, as well as apply and grow your business and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in the design and implementation of Big data and BI solutions using Hadoop and Apache open source components as well as enterprise grade BI and analytics solutions from leading vendors
- Analyse user requirements and create effective and efficient data related solutions
- Perform data exploration, mining, and forecasting
- Explore and propose solutions to business problems that can be addressed using insights from data
- Develops data architectures strategies, principles, standards and frameworks. Analyzes and evaluates alternative tactical and/or strategic data architecture solutions to meet business requirements
Critical Competencies
- University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics. Graduate degree in Analytics or Data Science related discipline is an asset
- Advance and hands on data experience spanning database design, data modelling, analytics, reporting, forecasting, data warehousing, Hadoop, ETL, etc. Experience implementing big data solutions using hadoop, SAS, and Microstrategy is an asset
- Experience in requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing of software solutions especially data related using C++, Java, .net, Python and other programming languages
- Gifted thinker who is extremely resourceful and can learn new technologies on the fly, driven and proactive
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, at the same time fun and possess a good sense of humour
- Team player who always put the interest of the team above all other priorities
- A Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- 8+ years technical experience with at least 3 years as data architect holding similar R&Rs as above, preferably in a Telecom environment.
- Autonomous and energetic individual
- Ability to oversee and work simultaneously on different requirements with a variety of projects and short timelines
- Experience in technology research and evaluation as well as vendor selection
- Strong aptitude to recognize opportunities for improvement in day-to-day work and take appropriate actions
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with a strong attention to detail
- Experience in Networking and Telecommunications is a strong asset
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
