Job Description:
This role provides leadership, direction and support to financial functions (i.e. forecasting/budgeting, financial performance monitoring, analysis and interpretation of monthly results, investment decision analysis,) which are critical to the success of our business. Working collaboratively with other business functions, the successful candidate will bring insight and recommendations to the business unit through in-depth financial and operations analysis. Providing accurate and timely financial and management information, and being able to communicate clearly and concisely are important aspects of the role.
Job Duties / Accountabilities:
- Manage direct reports (Finance Managers) and support the Field Services Senior Manager.
- Oversee the day- to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas.
- Research and resolve Business Unit(s) inquiries for assigned functional areas.
- Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations as well as Financial Reporting requirements package (financials and key drivers).
- Lead a number of annual budget-building processes as well as quarterly forecast updates. This involves working as a team member with other business unit managers, soliciting advice and recommendations, and presenting the end result to Senior Management with associated justification.
- Report monthly results in varying formats, ensuring the most meaningful medium for each audience. This will include presentations to senior leaders both in Finance and Operations.
- Develop and maintain financial plans, report on results, analyze implications and make recommendations which lead to maximizing financial performance.
- Support the development of business plans and strategies with in-depth financial analysis of options and by assisting in the development of financial and performance measurements for the business.
- Provide financial leadership to special projects; operations and financial reviews; alternative business and financial models which arise on a regular basis.
- Recommend, complete, and maintain financial procedures necessary to ensure the integrity of the business unit’s financial statements.
- Manage multiple priorities and demands originating from a diverse group of customers located throughout the Finance and Operations organizations.
Critical Qualifications / Competencies:
- Excellent analytic and research skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under time pressure while managing competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Computer literacy and aptitude for managing data and data interfaces.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (notably advanced Excel).
- Exceptional team orientation and collaborative skills.
- Solid financial and management accounting knowledge and experience.
- Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls.
- Strong financial and business modeling capabilities.
Education/Certifications Required:
Preferred candidates will have completed a professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA).
Candidates with other business related university studies (i.e. BBA, BComm, MBA) combined with 5+ years of practical business and financial experience will also be considered. Candidates currently enrolled in a professional accounting program could also be considered if they have relevant experience.
Previous leadership experience with strong organizational skills are critical.
