Position Description:
Bell is looking for a Business Intelligence Specialist with in-depth knowledge and practical work experience using the Microsoft Business Objects Tool Suite to become part of our team.
Bell specializes in delivering Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse (DWH) solutions to our clients using industry leading toolsets and Methodologies. This position involves working as a member of our dynamic delivery team which delivers BI and DWH consulting services and solutions throughout all stages of the project lifecycle from initiation through to completion to our clients.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
- Analyze client requirements in order to understand, recommend and design optimal solutions using the most appropriate tools and best practices
- Utilize Bell delivery methodologies and develop project deliverables as appropriate
- Configure data models and develop reports, cubes and scorecards
- Prepare and execute test plans to validate that the system components function according to the designs
- Work closely with clients to develop an understanding of the impacts of the new solution on clients’ existing work environments to identify areas of potential business change
- Support clients’ User Acceptance Testing processes
- Provide knowledge transfer to clients during final transition stages of projects
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or other relevant Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or equivalent IT Diploma from a recognized college
- Minimum of 4 years of recent, hands-on working experience with Microsoft Business Objects projects
- Self-motivated team player with strong work ethic and ability to multi-task within an environment of changing priorities
- Comfortable with Microsoft SQL
- Goal-oriented and results driven
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent speaking and writing skills
- Proven ability to lead requirements definition/solution design workshops
- Knowledge of BI and DWH methodologies including architecture and design
- Ability to present ideas/solutions to peers and clients, as well as, assist in sales and pre-sales support activities as required (e.g., development of presentations and proposals, conducting demonstrations)
- Demonstrated experience in performing multiple roles throughout the development lifecycle
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure while delivering within given budgets
Desired Qualifications/Competencies:
- Delivering projects in a consulting services firm to external clients and customers
- Working knowledge of ERP platforms (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner, SAP)
- Database experience with Oracle or Microsoft SQL
- Data extraction, transformation and load tools
- Microsoft Business Objects migrations and upgrades
- Other BI tool set such as IBM Cognos, Tableau etc.
