Position Description:
Bell is currently seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Advisor, Threat Intelligence for a team focused on researching, coding, applying, and delivering intelligence about active and emerging information security threats. The primary focus for the position is to analyze and characterize the threat landscape, inform countermeasure development to protect Bell’s business customers, and deliver intelligence briefings. The key accountabilities for this position include:
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
- Perform all-source research to identify and characterize new threats, vulnerabilities, and risks that apply to Bell’s customers
- Producing cyber threat intelligence to define the current threat landscape and further the enterprise security risk management strategy
- Provide actionable intelligence information for delivery to internal and external stakeholders in the form of technical reports, briefings, and data feeds
- Develop effective ways to present and visualize cyber threat information to technical and non-technical audience
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Bell’s customers
- Work with data scientists to design and implement data models, perform statistical analysis and introduce predictive analysis models.
- Increase the cyber security effectiveness of analytical models.
- Provide thought leadership on data science in a cyber threat intelligence context.
- Perform technical research into malware security incidents to identify tactics, techniques and procedures and to highlight new threats
- Leverage analytics involving large datasets to refine and improve data models and determine confidence levels for newly produced threat indicators
- Integrate internal systems, open source and trusted partner information through exchange of threat indicators and participation in trusted circles, cyber threat exchange forums, and information sharing and analyst centers
- Serve as a recognized Subject Matter Expert in cyber security activities within Bell
- May be required to provide advice and input in defining security solution requirements to mitigate the sources of risk identified through intelligence investigations
Required Qualifications/Competencies:
- Bachelor or Advanced degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or the equivalent.
- Solid demonstrated experience in providing detailed technical expertise on security within enterprise environments
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in information security with emphasis on intelligence analysis, threat research, network threat analysis or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ hands-on experience with analysis and/or response to information security threats or incidents
- Recognized expert on cyber threats including malware, cybercrime and advanced threats with in-depth understanding of exploit and attack mechanisms at network and system level and ability to identify and analyse their forensic artifacts
- Ability to interpret disparate sources of data, identify subtle patterns indicative of malicious activity and follow up with research to produce high quality intelligence assessments and reports
- Strong collaborator with team-oriented attitude
- Strong business acumen and ability to work with product management to develop new security offerings
- Excellent English written and oral presentation and communication skills
- Government of Canada Secret (Level 2) or higher clearance or ability to obtain is preferred
Desired Qualifications/Competencies:
- Programming experience with emphasis on C and/or scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PHP, shell
- Knowledge or experience with Big Data Analytics, Statistical Models, Machine Learning, Hadoop and RVetted membership in Threat Intelligence related trust communities
- Experience in providing technical architecture and integration expertise on Security Solutions within large corporate environments with a focus on solution implementation
- Experience in providing detailed technical architecture and integration expertise with major Vendor solutions i.e. Cisco, HP, McAfee, RSA, Juniper, Fortinet, Citrix, CA, Oracle, VMware, etc
- Ability to manage complex deliveries or programs from a pre sales and delivery perspective
