Analyst, Content Sales and Distribution (Toronto, ON, CA)

Position:  Analyst, Content Sales and Distribution
Location: Agincourt
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required

 

The Analysis Team, within the Content Sales and Distribution Department, supports the Business Operations and Sales Teams within the unit.  The team is involved in forecasting and analyzing variances for over $1 billion in subscriber revenue in connection with Bell Media’s portfolio of linear, multiplatform and SVOD services, and provides reporting and analysis to support key operation decisions made by the Senior Leadership Team.

The Role:

This is a key analytical role within Bell Media’s Content Distribution team and requires critical thinking and complex modelling to interpret subscriber trending and its impact on revenue.

 

Responsibilities:

Subscriber Revenue Projections and Analysis
• Create, develop and implement sophisticated financial models that reflect business operations and support the development of the 3 year Strategic Plan, the annual Budget  and the monthly & quarterly forecasting processes
• Responsible for interpretation, analysis and reporting of key business metrics
• Maintain complex forecasting models to reflect the most up-to-date industry trends and subscriber information
• Identify risks and opportunities within the market and communicate possible impacts to our business
• Complete special projects and ad hoc reports to help support senior management decision making, negotiations and corporate reporting
• Provide ad hoc scenario analysis to determine the financial impact of business opportunities and decisions
• Provide  subscriber revenue variance analysis and report on performance metrics to key internal stakeholders on a monthly basis
• Provide accurate and relevant subscriber/carriage statistics to key internal stakeholders as required
• Responsible for aligning intercompany budgets with respect to subscriber revenue

 
Industry Intelligence and Research
• Prepare quarterly summaries and financial results for publicly traded distributors and programmers
• Monitor  distributors’ product and service offerings
• Maintain current understanding of distribution platforms and developments in technology, changes in the regulatory environment, industry news and events

 

Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of television industry experience in an analytical role
• Post-secondary Business/Finance education required
• In depth knowledge of the television and content distribution industry
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software applications, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
• Financial and analytical background with an attention to detail
• Capable of independent, critical thinking
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, accuracy, interpersonal and time management skills
• Able to balance competing demands
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Process minded, understand how to leverage technology to drive short and long term efficiencies
