The UNIX Level 2 Systems Administrator will be reporting to the Systems admin Manager. He has the responsibility to manage UNIX systems for internal and external customer outsourced to Bell Canada. This is an operational position; he will be responsible to provide daily support on different customer environments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily support on incidents and changes by using management tools available;
- Follow the existing processes based on ITIL ;
- Take the opportunities to script the recurrent tasks that can be scripted;
- Understand performance Metrics and maintain / optimize system capacity and performance;
- Configure UNIX systems based on department standards;
- Create and update system documentation (Buildbook, Runbook);
- Analyze system vulnerabilities and create deployment plan to the release manager;
- Availability to provide 24/7 support on duty pager rotation.
Education and Training:
- University degree in computer studies or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in system administration in a production environment.
- Thorough knowledge of LINUX and UNIX (Solaris)
- Knowledge of networking and security concepts.
- NetBackup knowledge.
- Knowledge of one or more software among MySQL, Postgres, Oracle and Apache.
- Knowledge about managing SAN environments.
- Knowledge of security standards (hardening)
- Knowledge of HP Blade system and Cisco UCS is an asset
- VMWare knowledge would be an asset
- Bilingualism (french, english)
