Disability Management Specialist (Montreal, QC, CA)

Bell's Disability Management Group is currently seeking a tactful and professional individual to assume the position of Disability Management Specialist.  The incumbent's main role is to manage long-term disability benefit eligibility requests from employees of Bell Canada and its subsidiaries.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review the medical information already available in the employee's file.
  • Conduct telephone interviews (in English or French) with the employee and, if necessary, with the employer and healthcare professionals involved in the file to obtain the information required for the decision-making process.
  • Produce all written correspondence (in English or French) intended for the employee, employer, healthcare professionals and other organizations such as the QPP/CPP, as necessary.
  • Schedule and organize independent medical examinations, functional ability assessments or other examinations required to process the request.
  • Provide the employee with required support when he or she returns to work, including the determination of return-to-work provisions and necessary accommodations, in collaboration with the employer and other parties involved, if necessary. Involve a rehabilitation counsellor, if applicable.
  • Work in collaboration with management and HR/LR to find solutions when special situations occur, with a view to allowing the employee to return to work under conditions acceptable to both parties.
  • Follow up on long-term disability files that have already been approved to ensure employees' timely return to work.
  • Be available for conference calls with other company authorities if required due to special circumstances (disputes/accommodation or other).
  • Prior to their transmission, review copies of files requested by employees or third parties.

 

Critical Competencies

  • Bachelor of science in nursing or another health-related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Two to five years' experience in a similar position
  • Excellent judgement and discernment, ability to demonstrate discretion and ensure confidentiality
  • Good customer service skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with customers at all levels, especially with employees, directors, vice-presidents, healthcare professionals and other team members in a confident, pleasant and professional manner
  • Aptitude for teamwork
  • Solid organizational skills and excellent ability to prioritize
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)

 

Preferred Competencies

  • Familiarity with Sigma software, an asset

 

 

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
