An integral part of our customer service focus, includes contact centres across Canada supporting all of our Bell Mobility and Bell Residential Services customers. Our Customer Operations team is responsible for strategy, design and delivery of core call centre tools and processes, including queue strategy, routing, and call monitoring tools.
Risk Modeller
Customer Operations’ Strategy and Insight team is a multi-faceted organization responsible for leveraging business insights to set strategy and policy for TV, Home Phone, Internet, Wireless and multi-product customers. An important part of these insights govern Bell’s Credit and Risk management strategies and policies. You will work within the Risk Management Department of the Customer Operations Business Unit, reporting to Manager – Credit & Collections Risk. You will develop and maintain robust statistical models, and through these models, provide insights and guidance to the business regarding opportunities and approaches to improve involuntary churn, net bad debt, and related processes and metrics. Your work will involve working closely with the various teams within the Risk Management Department, as well as within your own team.
Key Responsibilities:
Predictive Modelling
* Using analytical thinking, statistical methods, and modelling skills to understand and solve complex business problems
* Develop and maintain robust statistical models, in collaboration with internal and external partners when necessary, to predict and improve involuntary churn, net bad debt and other associated metrics,
* Analyze and report on the drivers behind net bad debt, involuntary churn, and other related metrics, and provide input to the relevant credit and collections processes
* Extract and manipulate raw data, using programming tools such as SAS or SQL to enable analysis
* Translating complex data and model outputs in a simple and concise manner suitable for management review
Scorecard Development
* Develop new and/or enhance existing credit risk scorecards based on analysis of key performance drivers and portfolio metrics
* Monitor and report on performance of credit risk scorecards
Coaching/Training/Subject Matter Expertise
* Serve as a knowledge source for the team as well as business function partners
* Provide software and statistical training and coaching to less experienced team members
* Provide insightful and high quality information, advice and guidance to the business related to credit risk strategy and management
Other
* Responsible for daily monitoring of systems, interface with service providers and investigation of system issues
* Treat own work as a project, take ownership and ensure that priorities and deadlines are met
Essential skills / competencies:
* B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a quantitative field in Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics or Computer Science, or a PhD with expertise in quantitative statistical techniques
* Minimum 2 years experience in a data analysis / data mining role
* Strong knowledge of quantitative statistical methods and modelling; specifically predictive modeling, decision tree modeling and cluster analysis
* Demonstrated experience in translating complex business issues in a simple and concise manner
* Demonstrated experience with SAS programming and creating/manipulating large databases
* Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and to work independently and as part of an extended team
* Strong oral/written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills and comfort in interacting with all levels of management
* Ability to successfully resolve issues, diagnose business problems, plan, document and deliver solutions in timely manner
Preferred skills / competencies:
* Preferred 1-2 years of experience in credit risk management such as credit, credit & collections analytics , policies and procedures
* Experience with Enterprise Data Miner
* Experience with SQL
* Bilingual (English/French) an asset
Working Conditions:
* May work on projects, additional hours may be required to meet deadlines;
