Senior Manager, Media Relations

Corporate Communications
Bell's Communications team oversees various internal and external communications programs designed to help the executives and the Corporate Services and market segment teams carry out their respective business plans. The External Communications and Media Relations team has a vital role in meeting organizational objectives, protecting the brand, and positioning the company with different audiences.

 

Job Duties / Accountabilities
Reporting to the Director, External Communications, the Senior Manager is in charge of rolling out external public relations strategies, namely through media relations. The incumbent is also a spokesperson for the company before the media.

 

Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining positive media relations nationwide, by attending events, following up on requests, drafting press releases and participating in other media-related activities;
  • Drafting documents for the media;
  • Developing and composing key messages, question-and-answers, information documents and other materials for management;
  • Handling requests for interviews and preparing spokespeople, as needed;
  • Following up on projects and ensuring adherence to deadlines, quality and compliance of documentation;
  • Supporting and actively contributing to Bell's development and visibility in Québec;
  • Conducting internal research to consolidate information pertaining to a given subject, in light of an announcement or in response to questions from the media;
  • Monitoring and assessing Bell's media presence;
  • Following up on and ensuring the administration of Bell's various social media accounts.

 

Critical Skills / Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related discipline, or relevant experience
  • A minimum of five to eight years of solid experience in media relations and as a spokesperson
  • Bilingualism
  • Solid external communications experience
  • Good understanding of social media
  • Superior writing skills in a variety of online and print media
  • Strong sense of cooperation and flexibility, and an ability to carry out several projects simultaneously
  • Proven aptitude for project management, especially on large-scale projects (planning, coordination, management and execution)
  • Great ability to adapt
  • Ability to handle difficult and delicate situations
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment
  • Integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Recognized interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word and Excel)
