Bell Business Markets provides a vast array of communications solutions for small, medium, and large organizations. These include managed data and network solutions, cloud computing, conferencing, Web, security solutions and integrated information and communications technology (ICT) services.
Position Description:
The Analyst, Security Operations is one of several Level 4 Security Analysts who functions as a subject matter expert (SME) for a select set of security services and works within a protected Security Operations Centre (SOC) in downtown Ottawa. In addition, the Analyst, Security Operations functions as a point of escalation and mentor/coach for the Level 3 Security Analysts who work rotating shifts to provide the first response. Therefore, the Analyst, Security Operations typically works the day shifts but must be available on an on-call basis to respond to escalated security alerts and notifications throughout the 24x7x365 operations. The Analyst, Security Operations also performs hands-on device management, develops and plans configuration changes and performs advanced troubleshooting for security devices such as firewalls, VPN devices, host intrusion prevention appliances, anti-virus and anti-spam appliances, and data loss prevention appliances for a diverse client base. The incumbent must be able to quickly understand the diverse managed security services that the Bell Business Markets offers to its client base and must be able to differentiate and respond to the unique operational and contractual performance requirements of each individual client. The Analyst, Security Operations must have a expert knowledge of both technical and operational network security best practices and significant hands-on experience for an assigned set of technology platforms and security services that the Security Operations Centre (SOC) supports. The Analyst, Security Operations must be able to identify and compare technological capabilities that are required to support a particular security service, and identify technological gaps where more development is needed. A high level of customer interaction is expected of the Analyst, Security Operations therefore top-notch communications skill (both verbal and written) is essential.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
* Acts as point of escalation and mentor/coach for Level 3 Security Analysts to guide them through advanced troubleshooting and security analysis
* Participates in an one-week on-call rotation to handle escalations
* Works after normal business hours (on occasion) to implement planned configuration changes
* Collaborates with clients and other Bell groups to troubleshoot escalated technical issues
* Performs advanced hands-on analysis of security incidents
* Develops, schedules, and verifies changes that are pushed to security appliances
* Provides technical advice to management, client delivery services, and project managers
* Documents troubleshooting steps, security analysis methods, and technical details for daily operational solutions for assigned security services/portfolio
* Develops technical rollout plans (including configuration development) with the required components, teams and tools, including other Bell or third-party on-site teams
* Reviews integration with customer elements and devises solutions to meet customer specific environments
* Assesses features, functionality and operational requirements in a lab / staging environment to advise customers on the potential adoption of specific technologies
* Reviews industry and vendor alerts for vulnerabilities and service notices. Works with customers and with Level 3 Security Analysts to create mitigation solutions based on vendor advisories
* Participates in change reviews with customers for complex and high impact changes
* Delivers technology information briefs and knowledge transfer to peer Subject Matter Experts and Level 3 Security Analysts to support and improve daily operations
* Works with vendors and management to resolve incident and maintenance issues
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
* SECRET Security Clearance is required (or ability to obtain one)
* Demonstrated experience managing and troubleshooting Cisco appliances. In particular ASA, ISE, ACS, IDS/IPS, and NAC are of particular interest.
* 5 years of industry experience supporting information security technologies
* Completion of University or College program related to Computer Network Systems
* Knowledge and understanding to interpret SIEM alerts and supporting technologies
* Ability to mentor less experienced analysts through a security solution
* Good communication skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to business managers
* Network certifications such as CCNA or CISSP
* Bilingual is not essential, but desirable
