Overview of Position
The role of an engineering technician at Bell Media’s Agincourt campus is to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and support broadcast facilities. The specific role of a production engineering technician is to look after but not limited to video, audio, and production communication equipment related to production control rooms (video and audio) and studios.
This position is part of a 12-person team and is responsible for multiple production control rooms & television studios, and ENG/EFP cameras systems. As Television is a 24/7 operation shift work will be required. On a typical shift, a technician could be working on any or all of the following:
- Responding to an urgent request or equipment failure in one of the control rooms or studios.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues encountered by field ENG/EFP operators.
- Design and implementation of a customer request/project.
- Preventative maintenance.
- Assisting another engineering technician.
- Researching a customer request.

Responsibilities
Regular, preventative, and urgent maintenance of television production and studio equipment including but not limited to:
- Video production switchers.
- Audio mixing consoles.
- Studio and ENG/EFP cameras.
- Intercom systems.
- Non-linear editing systems.
- Tape, disc, and file-based record & play-out systems.
- Non-linear logging systems.

Qualifications
- Electronics degree or diploma; specialty in broadcast systems desired.
- Detailed working knowledge of all television broadcasting equipment.
- Solid understanding IT, network, and server environments.
- Excellent and methodical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize as issues develop.
- Excellent communication skills and ‘can-do’ attitude when dealing with end-users & customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work shifts (day, evening, & overnight), weekends, and holidays; overtime as required.
- Hold a valid Ontario Class G (ON) Driver’s License.
