Job Description:
Reporting to the Senior Sales Manager responsible for the Bell team at the Vancouver Convention Centre, the Network Engineer is the technical ‘go to’ person responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, support and future planning of all network infrastructures at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The Convention Centre is a 7-Day per week operation, so the candidate should anticipate the potential for calls and being able to respond at off-normal hours, weekends and holidays in the event of network problems that are beyond the skill set of the on-call network technicians.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
* Act as the technology subject matter expert on Bell’s Convention Centre Services Practice
* Complete fundamental detailed network designs including project plans and post project documentation
* Maintain close relationship with the, network technicians, sales teams, internal partners and vendors
* Act as project design engineer and project manager to deliver network modifications and upgrades with a coordinated effort to accommodate all network users. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with Bell
* Quality Assurance verification of network provisioning, racks and technical floor space and closets
* Analyze the customers’ needs and evaluate potential sales opportunities in order to elaborate customer intents
* Acts as a trusted advisor
* Ensure prompt resolution of any customer problems in order to demonstrate the Bell representative’s sense of responsibility to the customer
* Guide the team toward achieving or surpassing established objectives by assisting team members in recommending winning solutions or preparing bids
* Provide support to the team regarding escalation to the next hierarchical level
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
* At least five years of professional experience in telecommunications or similar industry
* Certifications are preferred (i.e., Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, etc...)
* As this Bell team operates in the hospitality industry excellent customer communication skills are mandatory
* Strong team spirit and ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and multiple projects
* Proven ability to build effective relationships with partners and customers
* Experience with Hospitality industry and Event Operations
* Business acumen
* Technical certification in relevant products desired
* Communication skills
* Propensity to act
* Organizational skills
