The Manager, On-Air Services & Ingest, is responsible for ensuring compliance with the technical and operational standards of programs produced and/or broadcasted at RDS. S/he is the Manager working in activity sectors such as broadcasting and digitization, and ensures work discipline and execution as requested, within the prescribed time period, providing for the best quality of work possible. Leveraging his or her expertise, the incumbent assists and participates in service management.

The Manager, On-Air Services & Ingest may be called upon to work in and coordinate activities for all production, studio, control room, editing, graphics and external production sectors.

S/he must keep abreast of new developments in broadcasting and transmission technology so that his/her staff have all the knowledge they need to execute work efficiently and product quality is ensured.

Main accountabilities

* In charge of planning, organizing, coordinating and assigning available resources.
* Plan, direct and provide advice regarding technicians' work.
* Responsible for providing adequate support for programming and news services as part of productions requiring external incoming feeds.
* Take calls regarding employee absences and make the necessary corrections in collaboration with the Technical Resources Coordinator.
* Assist the Traffic Supervisor and Promotion Department and resolve routing issues related to airing and the programming road map.
* Assess problems and changes on trouble reports filled out by technicians.
* Monitor equipment, systems and all facilities used for technical maintenance, particularly any change in equipment and/or repairs required for our operations.
* Draft the required reports on the delivery of each production or program and fill out technical trouble forms.
* Assist with employee training.
* Check and approve technicians' timesheets.
* Supervise all technicians' activities having to do with airing and digitization for broadcasting.
* Perform employee assessments.
* May be called upon to carry out other related tasks.

Knowledge, skills and qualifications

* Diploma of Collegial Studies in television production or equivalent training.
* Three to five years' experience in a production and broadcasting environment.
* Knowledge of production and broadcasting technical standards in terms of studio and/or airing and/or external production activities.
* Employee and project management skills.
* Ability to plan, lead, organize and control.
* Cost production assessment skills.
* Knowledge of the technical needs specific to each type of sport.
