Job Title: Master Control Operator (Pay Per View)
Name and description of the hiring department:
As a major part of the Broadcast Operations team, this position continuously maintains a high level of PPV on air quality using advanced troubleshooting skills, seamless file management and expertise of asset encoding and compression and diligence towards providing a television product to all Bell TV customers. A PPV operator is the main point of contact for all things PPV at Bell TV.
Job Duties / Accountabilities:
* Maintaining On Air Quality - analyzing video and audio signals of all PV Sever play out
* Informing the IPTV and main Master Controls of any issues that impact customers
* Checking the accuracy of the Interactive Program Guide to Harris Automation schedules
* Ensuring all Harris automation playlists are correctly timed out
* Quality check all encoded PPV files are transferred properly and meet Bell TV’s Standards (Wave form, Vector scope, audio format, Closed captioning)
* Knowledge of encoding hardware and software and how they are connected to the IPTV VOD network
* Working with all internal departments to ensure a good customer experience (Media Library, Traffic, Ingest, programming, engineering)
* Perform Logger records in accordance to CRTC regulations
* Manage IPTV PPV channel play lists-import schedules, export logs, ensure schedules are consistent with EPG. Manually create and maintain schedules for promotion/information channels and HDTV
* Manage live event routing
* Export as run logs for CRTC and traffic department
Essential Qualifications / Competencies:
* Knowledge of broadcast centre signal flow. Troubleshoot technical issues, ability to coordinate, re-route or patch to minimize downtime and restore service
* Good communication skills and strong technical vocabulary
* Prioritize workload and work independently with minimal supervision
* Ability to work well under pressure, learn quickly and adapt to new technology, be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently, be able to meet deadlines
* Technical and Operational knowledge of automation, Harris Servers, including Profile, Leitch, Seachange, Pinnacle and Sencore HD. Archive management software: Video Tape Recorders and Routers
* Thorough knowledge of High definition, Digital and Analog Broadcast Technology and their formats including waveform/vector scope
* Related knowledge of ATSC codecs MPEG-2, MPEG-4,VC-1, H.264 and other DVC systems
* Have the ability to train new operators
* Post Secondary Graduate Diploma – Broadcasting
* Proficiency in Windows based Computer Programs
* 2 - 4 years in a broadcast related field, preferably in a master control environment

* Shift work, 24/7 operation
