Job Description:
Reporting to the manager of the Value Added Services Operations, the selected candidate will have to maintain and install various systems relative to value added services for Wireless VAS Operations & Engineering including occasional maintenance to be executed between 02:00 and 05:00 am EST.
Those systems are:
- Storage Area Network (SAN)
- Backup Solution (BAN)
- Virtualization
Job Duties / Accountabilities:
- Maintain existing systems and services in the production network, ensuring highest availability
- Test and deploy new systems, services and technologies in the production network using established processes
- Troubleshoot complex problems and identify solutions and recommendations
- Document process and procedures and provide training to different teams
- Provide 24/7 on-call support according to the schedule (3 month cycle)
- Work hours are conditional to customer requirements. Evenings and weekends may be required for special events
- Collaborate with stakeholder teams such as VAS Engineering, Wireless technology, Service Development, Vendors and Other Operational teams on various project and operational activities
- Work with and manage multiple vendors to resolve issues
- Provide 4th level support for customer problems (internal & external)
Essential Qualifications / Competencies:
- Must have minimum of 3 years of system administration experience
- Excellent knowledge of UNIX operating systems (Solaris, Linux RH)
- Shell or perl scripting in a system administration environment
- Working knowledge of OSI model and networking concepts
- Knowledge of cluster/high availability software
- Experience with alarming, monitoring, system performance analysis
- Demonstrate analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Show interpersonal and leadership skills with a passion for results
- Self-sufficient and strong ability to adapt to changes
- Ability to motivate others and promote team spirit and employee value
- Proficient in both written and oral communication
Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:
- Preferably hold a University or College diploma in computers science or computer/electrical engineering
- Previous experience in VAS systems
- Project Management experience and good understanding of Lean/Six Sigma Methodology
- Incident management knowledge
- Follow Change management procedures
- Oracle RDBMS experience
- SAN Administration and Operation
- Bilingual in English and French (Oral and Written)
- Experience with Oracle/HP/IBM hardware
Working Conditions:
- Need to be available to work Monday to Friday between 8:30 AM to 04:30 PM
- Work schedule might be changing depending on business needs
- Overtime as required
