The TV & Wireline Network Operations Team is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional in the area of Broadcast Operations to join our team of trained network experts committed to delivering Canada’s best content and services to our customers through next-generation services for TV (Fibe TV, as well as the introduction of new technologies and products across Bell’s coast-to-coast network.  We build and deliver stunning picture quality and reliable service for all of Bell’s video services and manage a fleet of Bell’s satellites with 24 hour support.  Bell has the best network because we have the best people on our team. And with you, Bell just got better!

 

As a Operational Floater you will be a member of the Operations Department supported by the Manager of Operations. This position is responsible for providing 24/7 operations support at our Scarsdale broadcast centre.

 

This position is to support SMT (Service Management Tool), the tool that interfaces with IPTV’s Acquisition Servers. It checks health of our servers, moves processes from one server to another, restart processes and changes IPs.


Job Duties / Accountabilities:
 

  • Monitor the health of the Acquisition Servers via SCOM
  • Create and manipulate new and existing channels in SMT
  • Level 2 SMT support for both IPTV linear channels and VOD (service restoration, channel packaging, etc.)
  • Document and verify testing for all changes (category changes, free previews)


Essential Qualifications / Competencies:
 

The qualified candidate will be knowledgeable in SMT, and be able to troubleshoot issues related to IPTV, linear and VOD.

 

  • 4-6 years experience in a broadcast environment
  • College diploma in Television Broadcasting
  • Thorough knowledge of both analog and digital broadcast technology
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Superb communication skills
  • Proficient troubleshooting ability
  • Solid PC based computer skills
  • Knowledge of automation and file servers is an asset
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Video file transcoding
