Job summary:
This position is responsible for provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting of Bell Media’s live and on demand video and audio streaming technologies. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge and experience relating to all aspect of media streaming including but not limited to server and client side technologies, OVPs, CDN(s) integration, protocols and codecs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to achieve departmental objectives and initiatives relating to live and on demand audio and video streaming
- Complete infrastructure hardware builds and implementation of services and applications
- Monitor system and network elements using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting procedures; perform diagnostics of system hardware and software components
- Document system(s) maintenance, configuration, applications and technical reference material
- Provide excellent level of customer service including effective and timely communications to all affected stakeholders
- Participate in daily provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting activities for streaming systems and network interoperability issues, working closely with all our partners, Application development, Broadcast Engineering, Quality Assurance, Customer Support, and Technical Operations teams
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in related field and/or equivalent education
- In-depth knowledge of server side streaming platforms – preferably Wowza Media, IceCast and Adobe Flash
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, as well as solid background knowledge focused around QoS issues for video streaming, are required
- Very knowledgeable in all facets of deploying and managing a streaming service: provisioning, logging, monitoring, reporting and documentation
- Experience with Linux system administration in an application management context
- Experience in video content delivery and working with Online Video Platform providers and Content Delivery Networks such as Akamai and Limelight
- Working knowledge of common codecs (i.e. H.264, AAC, HEAAC+v2, MP3)
- Working knowledge of audio and video streaming platforms (e.g., Wowza, Flash, Icecast, etc.)
- Working knowledge of media streaming protocols (i.e. HLS, HDS, RTMP, Shoutcast, MPEG-DASH, etc.)
- Working knowledge of desktop encoding and tools (Orban, Omnia, VLC, ffmpeg, etc.)
- Bilingualism (French and English)
Work conditions:
- Work schedule: This position also requires sharing on-call duties for technical support in order to ensure site/service availability 24/7
