Bell Business Markets provides a vast array of communications solutions for small, medium, and large organizations. These include managed data and network solutions, cloud computing, conferencing, Web, security solutions and integrated information and communications technology (ICT) services.
Position Description:
Bell National Hosting Services (NHS) provides collocation and managed services to Bell Business Markets customers nationally. Operating data centers in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta, Bell offers IT solutions to both mid and enterprise market customers. Services provided range from space, power, cooling, physical security, internet, firewalls, backup/restore, managed virtual servers and a variety of applications. All solutions are architected with multiple levels of redundancy, significant scalability and overall high availability. Customers are supported through a 24*7 Network Operations Centre and are backed up by an industry leading service level agreement.
Reporting to the Server Team Lead, the successful candidate will be a member of the Day 2 server support team. The team supports the NHS national compute infrastructure including ownership of the Storage systems, virtualized infrastructure, Server Operating systems internal and customer, Cloud Infrastructure as a Service platform, and a variety of managed applications.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
- Support of NHS internal servers and applications including internal tool sets and Virtual infrastructure required for supporting our customers
- Support customer environments including operating system management, application management, patch management, and documentation of deployments
- Work with NHS teams (Network and NOC team) to support the NHS business and customers effectively
- Support the team lead by acting as a subject matter expect for process review and operational efficiencies in storage and windows servers
- Provide leadership to the server team and NOC that will ensure operational excellence in windows systems design and day 2 execution
- Lead the development of standard procedures for change management(MOPS)
- Work with peers to ensure all storage infrastructure, windows servers and virtualized infrastructures are standardize in configuration
- Provide support for incident and request management (internal and Clients).
- Provide coaching to team members and NOC to ensure team collaboration and improve customer experience
- Act as an escalation point for the NHS NOC and provide leadership and ownership on installed systems and applications
- Participate in Change Management procedures including but not limited to peer reviewing method of procedures and participating in weekly meetings
- Participate in the deployment of new clients, and internal projects
- Participate 24 x 7 rotational on-call
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems in an enterprise data center and managed IT services environment
- College or University Degree focusing on the discipline of computer science or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
- Experience with HP 3PAR/EMC VNX storage SAN and/or Cisco UCS chassis and Blades preferred
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems
- Previous experience and proficiency on VMware ESX, VCenter and VSphere
- A good understanding of either SQL Server 2008 - 2012, Exchange 2007 - 2013, SharePoint 2010, Active Directory 2008 - 2012, DNS, PowerShell or IIS 6 or better
- Knowledge of Citrix XenApp 6.5 – 7.6 and/or VMware would be considered a great asset
- Knowledge of networking and security concepts
- Knowledge of ITIL framework
- Additional knowledge of either Legato backup systems, Symantec Net Backup, HP C series chassis would be considered an asset
- Certifications in VMware, Microsoft or other relevant industry disciplines would be an asset.
- Experience in a 24 x 7 environment
- English language spoken and written. Bilingualism (English/French) an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; calm, polite and professional
- Excellent teamwork and customer service skills
- Good knowledge of hosting marketplace
- Service oriented, adaptable and resilient
- Excellent attention to detail, quality and control
- Knowledge of Bell Canada processes and systems an advantage
- Skilled in operation of MS Office, Project and ability to familiarize and work with internal Bell order processing tools
- Capable of building an informal knowledge network to assist in their knowledge and development within Bell Canada
