Digital Content Editor, Discovery Digital (1 Year Contract), Unifor 79M
Responsibilities:
• The Digital Content Editor will support Web Producers and Developers with digital video duties & Scheduling across all Discovery Canada web, mobile and download to own properties.
• Creating, shot listing and encoding content for Discovery Channel web mobile and download platforms.
• Production of web exclusive content. Working with Producers to achieve results that meet Discovery Canada’s standards. Tasks include shooting, audio recording, lighting and editing of content.
• Be an active member of the Discovery Digital production team. Contribute to brainstorm sessions, research, contribute to the editorial plan/content and help with project management.
• Work with Executive Producer, Digital to plan, manage and administer Discovery Canada’s video distribution strategy
• Capture and edit still images from Video and from Photo archives.
• Work closely with Discovery and Bell Media Digital teams to enhance and improve Digital video workflow and evolve product vision.
• Keep Discovery Interactive team informed of leading edge digital video technologies.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• University/College education in Broadcasting, Journalism, Digital Media or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years Digital Media experience.
• Keen interest in the Discovery brand and the core values of the brand. Must be familiar with Discovery programming and content.
• A general interest and curiosity about science and technology.
• 1-3 years experience with encoding tools including Agility and Inlet encoders.
• 1-3 years experience with Adobe Premiere Pro/After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Avid systems & Sony Vegas
• Working experience with the following platforms; DART, AXIS &, Kentico
• 2-3 experience with photo editing software and concepts (Photoshop).
• Knowledge of HTML, XML, JPEG, Flash and Windows media, along with other pertinent web standards.
• Working experience with in-house and independent production companies.
• Adept at working with Digital video and sound on web, mobile and download platforms.
• Highly organized, self-motivated and creative.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline orientated environment.
