BTS operates in the residential and business sectors throughout Québec and Ontario. Role Description:
 

The Director, Finance is responsible for providing leadership and direction in all areas of commercial management, accounting, controlling, corporate reporting, compliance and treasury. The Director, Finance is in charge of providing financial and business guidance to the Executive team, while focusing on creating full transparency through analysis and recommendations.  The Director, Finance manages a team of 45 managers and professionals responsible to drive process improvements, to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and to ensure accounting and financial compliance of the BU.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Planning

 

  • Contribute to the overall business strategy of BTS by participating in strategic, operational, and tactical activities
  • Long range planning, annual budget, and quarterly outlooks (Opex, Capex, and headcount)
  • Analyze company operations, identifying areas that can be reorganized to fit appropriate business volume

 

Financial Reporting

 

  • Oversee corporate and operations accounting. Operations accounting including project business development, project operations activities
  • Timely preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, and quarterly forecasts that reflect the objectives, plans and priorities established in the strategic plan
  • Issue timely monthly financial records and statements to Bell and the Executive team
  • Oversee the development and implementation of new financial reporting policies, procedures and controls to enforce compliance

 

Performance and Risk Management

 

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Prepare annual budget package
  • Maintain routine performance management systems, identify and lead key customized analysis for operations, project accounting (identification of KPI’s, form of analysis and internal reporting)
  • Develop and maintain an effective risk management program, including appropriate insurance coverage (in liaise with BCE guidelines)

 

Financial Accounting and Treasury

 

  • Ensure the financial statements accurately represent the financial position of the company and its operations
  • Responsible for the financial audit and control processes necessary to monitor the performance of the company against established budget targets. Establish and maintain adequate internal controls
  • Oversee preparation of cash forecasts and manage company’s financial position

 

Logistic Planning & Purchasing

 

  • Manage BTS vehicle fleet
  • Safeguard and protect assets to ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits across all departments

 

Corporate and commodity taxes
 

  • Ensure completion of tax reporting and compliance;
  • Manage CRA audits, commodity tax audits and payroll tax audits;
  • Liaise with Bell Corporate Tax Team on tax planning and Commodity Tax Team on different commodity tax projects

  • Owns a title: CA (Chartered Accountant) CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CGA (Certified General Accountant)
  • Works well independently, takes initiatives, extremely efficient while being a strong team player
  • Knows how to prioritize, is well organized
  • Possesses excellent English and French language skills (verbal & written)
  • Is able to provide direction to geographically dispersed teams to perform at optimal levels in a demanding environment
  • Highly analytical with tremendous attention to detail, while able to simplify and communicate complex analysis to a broader audience
  • Ability to develop clear business case rationale and recommendations
  • Known for his uncompromising ethics and impeccable integrity
  • Responsible, proactive, trustworthy, enjoys taking ownership of projects and being accountable for results
  • Shows excellent ability to work as part of a team with top company executives and senior management
  • Is able to work under pressure and manage priorities under challenging circumstances
  • Proficiency on Microsoft Office and SAP systems, PEATS and BW (company warehouse) (an asset)
